I absolutely love pulp fiction magazines and paperbacks. The over the top content within and the incredible cover art can't be passed by. These books often brought the underbelly of society for all to see. What is a "Pulp Fiction" paperback? *Pulp fiction, refers to a genre of racy, action-based stories published in cheaply printed magazines from around 1900 to the 1950s, mostly in the United States. ... Magazines and later paperbacks featuring such stories were typically pub...lished using cheap, ragged-edged paper made from wood pulp. These lurid often violent magazines and paperbacks were referred as "pulps", as well as, "potboilers". What is the meaning of a potboiler? *A potboiler or pot-boiler is a novel, play, opera, film, or other creative work of dubious literary or artistic merit, whose main purpose was to pay for the creator's daily expensesthus the imagery of "boil the pot", which means "to provide one's livelihood". *When it came to these types of books, often sold at newsstands, drug stores and train stations, you could tell a book by it's cover. The covers deserved to be called, they truly were. *The first picture is of the paperback, Junkie by William Lee, this book was banned for nearly 20 years. Nearly a year after the banning of Junkie, at a challenge made in court, the judge upheld the ban, calling William Lee, "a sick twisted individual who should be locked up" so he wouldn't pose any threat to the general population. Wow, lol. *The last picture was considered a favorite among churches that hosted book burnings. [All photos from Dames, Dolls, & Delinquents: A Guide to Sexy Pulp Fiction Paperbacks]

Rare Majolica Applied Flower Vase England Marked Majolica is generally indicative of quality. English Majolica vase covered with applied flowers and leaves. ... Material: Ceramic Type: Bouquet Placement: Table Height: 8" Diameter: 4 1/2" Time Period: 1891-1920's It is marked ENGLAND in red on the bottom (English Pottery started printing "England" after 1891) The number "620" which I believe references the artist that hand painted the piece. DESCRIPTION: A rare pattern antique English Majolica vase. Beige in color and features flowers and leaves applied to the front of the vase. It is accented with a medium brown colored border around the top and bottom edge as well as the handles. Painted swirls with turquoise dots cover the rest of the vase. Please look at the close up photos. ***Currently on the market are two other vases like this, one is slightly taller, while the other has blue rather than red. Both of those claim chips and broken flowers, this vase is flawless. ***I found the following statement, from a collector of 38 years of Marjolica pottery, interesting, "as with all of majolica pieces, these old beauties have some chips and flakes or a missing leaf or petal". Well not mine. ***This piece I have for sale is the nicest piece of it's kind to be for sale in the marketplace in years. A rare find Indeed. Thank you, for your time and consideration. Le Capitaine Fracasse By Theophile Gautier Illustrated By Gustave Dore 1866 Condition is good in my opinion, the book is 154 years old. *Spine covering is coming off and is loose. *There is staining on most pages.... *Pages 284 till the end are 3/4 of the way seperated from the spine. *Back cover is detatched. Captain Fracasse (French:Le Capitaine Fracasse) is an 1863 novel by the French writer Théophile Gautier. It is an adventure novel set in the seventeenth century. The story has been adapted for film and television numerous times. An 1866 edition of the novel was illustrated by Gustave Doré. (Gustave Dore also worked on the Divine Comedy [Danted Inferno] ) Generally the 1866 is more sought after than the 1st edition a few years earlier, due to Dore. [$55.00]

Here is the rundown... The Official Title: American Series of Popular Biographies Massachusetts Edition This Volume Contains Biographical Sketches of Representative Citizens of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts... 1901 1692 pages Condition... First see the pictures, both front and back cover are detached from spine. Spine has obvious signs of age. All 1692 pages are near mint, unbelievable, really for a 120 year old book. There are probably more than a thousand individual biographies. [$75.00]
