Hey folks, if you're going to hire a lawyer to assist you in the home buying or selling process, for God's sake, hire one who knows about Real Estate. Any honest lawyer, and especially, any law student will tell you that real estate law is unlike other law. Many lawyers will tell you they can do your real estate closing for you, but in reality, if they're not doing a lot of them, or, for that matter, doing real estate law exclusively, they may be inept at real estate law, ...but will never admit it. I recently reviewed a real estate closing where a woman used the lawyer who handled her divorce to preside over the closing where she sold her home. The lawyer's name is Francis Miller and he practices in West Chester, Pa. I reviewed the paperwork after the settlement, and WOW! He got NOTHING right. He allowed mistakes that cost the homeseller thousands of dollars, and pretty much made a mess out of everything. Ask your realtor who a good real estate lawyer is. Look for attorneys who limit their practice to real estate. Don't trust the sale or purchase of one of your largest assets to be monitored by someone who doesn't know what they're doing. See more
