A CELEBRATION OF SPARKY! Normally, when we learn that a friend is passing over the rainbow bridge, we are too late to wish that pup a special goodbye. We get a phone call or an email, or in some cases we just hear through the grapevine that we've lost a friend. Today we had the honor, the pleasure, the JOY of getting to see a friend before he says hello to all our past family members who've made it over the rainbow bridge. We learned that Sparky, who has been with us since... we opened, was diagnosed with an illness and probably won't see us too many more times. Sparky has always been special to me because when I saw his precious face, I knew it was a Thursday. In time, on Thursdays I would announce, "It's Sparky Thursday" to everyone when he arrived. Over the years, his visits became on more random days, but the announcement of what day of the week it was always followed his arrival. There were some Sparky Tuesdays, and Sparky Fridays, but nonetheless, at a job where rarely did I need to know the day of the week, when Sparky arrived, it would be the one day that I would remember the day. I can only thank his family for bringing him to daycare today for a special day. They said that if he talked, he would tell them that he'd rather be home first, and at Keystone K9 second. While I think the order may be slightly off, I'm thankful we came in the top 2. I raise some kibble to Sparky and to me retiring from the I know the day of the week club. I love you and I hope that you have a few more visits left in you so I can see you again in person(to dog), rather than by online chat. And if you do come back and I see you in person, in George Foreman, Michael Jordan, and Rolling Stones style, I WILL return from retirement to announce your arrival in the way you are entitled to and deserve! - Josh
