We are hosting our first official NOBO, Tucker. He started at Springer on Feb 23rd and we are his first hostel stay. He is doing 30 mile days on average and is a great young man. Thanks to some supporters of ours, his stay was paid for, so he was extremely grateful.

Had the honor of meeting these two gentlemen this afternoon Buzz Lightyear and Woody, cytriplecrown. They are finishing the At and then heading west to finish their triple crown in one year. What awesome guys.

Hikers don’t forget we now have an Amazon locker so you can have your packages waiting for you when you get here. Normally all packages must be picked up in 72 hours but if you add THRu HIker to your name my ups delivery driver will give them to me to hold

Don’t forget that if you’re coming through Duncannon PA before or after hours that we have the mini general store for all of your basic hiking needs!!

2021 hiker chalkboard is installed and ready for hiking season. The 2020 chalkboard has been preserved and will become a ceiling panel in the lounge.

Did you know that we have an Amazon locker inside the store? You can ship to the locker for safer pick ups but also return items to Amazon through the locker. Just pick our store as your shipping or return location. Packages are held for 72 hours for pickup.

Adding six additional bunks in the hostel. Now you can choose the quiet room or the lounge room. Each of the new bunks contains its own outlet and light. Working on tiling the lounge and bathrooms. We ready for the first hikers heading into town in the next couple weeks and lots to follow.

Beth Ritter-Guth Squeaks came to visit us today and it was wonderful to finally meet face to face. She promised she’ll be back.

We at Kind of Outdoorsy are honored to have been one of Braids Favorite Hostels. Our first year was an ever changing year, with covid and not sure how many hikers we were going to have, but we were so happy to have hosted over 400 hikers last year. This year is bigger and better with the addition of more bunks. We would like to thanks Braids for her review. She was a pleasure to meet. We look forward to serving the 2021 hikers and can't wait for the season to begin.

We want to thank everyone for a great first year with the hostel. We had over 400 hikers stay with us since April and we still are getting a few in the last week. It’s been a blessing to have met each and everyone one of them. We have helped a few and they have helped us far more than we ever expected. We look forward to next years hikers and welcoming back some of our friends. We could not have done this without your support.

Christmas market starts Friday November 27 at 9 am to 5pm and runs every Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday thru December. Santa and Mrs Claus will be coming Saturday from 3-5 for photos. Here is a sneak peek of some of our vendors.

Spent the day getting ready for Santa and the Christmas market. Thanks to Tammy Brian Weikel for the glue gun we got our archway finished. All ready for photos with Santa on the 28th of November 3-5.
