President Kate Holod presents member Bob Sproul with his recognition of 57 years of membership in our club. Bob is a faithful and active member but he may be best known as the guy that wins the 50 50 every other meeting defying all odds! The club congratulates you Bob.

Our annual scholarship award dinner was a huge success. Tonight we recognized three recipients who were awarded 4 year scholarships at local universities. These outstanding young ladies were chosen based on rigorous criteria and they are required to maintain a GPA of 3.0 or better for 4 years. As a club that strives to help our local community we are proud of the work of our scholarship committee.
Kiwanians have made pizza for St Joe's Festival for over 20 years! We are driven to serve those in need.
The Kiwanis Club of Scranton presented a $1,000 donation to the Arc of Northeastern Pa to support the "virtual zoom" activities for the ARC participants. Activities include Monday dances with E J the DJ, bingo, chair yoga and other adult recreational activities. The group includes from left to right Don Broderick - Kiwanis club and former Executive director of the ARC, Bill Burnell - Arc board member, Mary Clare Kretsch - ARC Executive Director, Mauri Pfizer- Arc recreation manager, Holly Scripp - Arc recreation coordinator, Kate Holod - President of The Kiwanis Club and Eileen Rempe- ARC public relations. Tonight we met as a club in person at Coopers Seafood for the first time since March 5, 2020. It was wonderful to see friends and enjoy a talk by Mark Cooper. Mark explained the many challenges in dealing with the shut down and the limited capacity issues. Thank you to Coopers Seafood for your hard work and great service.
Michelle Sadowitz was our speaker at Kiwanis today. Michelle is a personal trainer at Lux Personal Training in Clark's Summit. She shared her personal story of battling an eating disorder which eventually led to her career in fitness. Thank you Michelle.
Rebecca Martino was our guest speaker today. Rebecca owns Stately Pet Supply and gave us an education on big box stores and the misleading labels on many pet food bags.
Today's meeting featured Paige Cognetti who is running for Mayor of Scranton. Paige spoke of her background and hope's for her administration.
Our Kiwanis club enjoyed its annual meeting with our partners at the Aktion Club. We were entertained by singing and a review of their successful year. A $500 donation was presented to the Aktion club.
Tonight we held the 2nd Annual Kiwanis Club of Scranton youth talent expo. Our young performers were all terrific and represented schools from all across northeast Pa. Judges awarded prizes for the top three students in each age group.
Monsignor Kelly was our guest speaker this Wednesday. He spoke of the great service to our community at St. Francis of Assissi. Our club presented him a donation of $1,000.00 to help feed our needy neighbors.
The Kiwanis Club of Scranton welcomed the Republican Lackawanna County Commissioner candidates at today's meeting. Thank you Chris and Michael.
