KNITTENJEN'S BEADS My name is Jenny Tabrum, otherwise known as KnittenJen. I have been knitting most of my life. After years of making sweaters and socks I hit menopause and could no longer wear all those warm things! I fiddled around looking for an idea to continue knitting and landed on knitted and beaded beads. Since then I have knit thousands of beads and created many pieces of unique jewelry incorporating traditional beading materials with my fiber beads. I hope you enjoy them as much as I enjoy creating them.

HOW I MAKE A KNITTED BEAD My knitted beads begin with a round wooden bead with a 5/32" hole. Then I select the yarn (KOIGU 100% Merino wool)and seed beads (Miyuki or Toho). If I am making a beaded bead, the correct number of seed beads are prestring onto the yarn. Working with 4 double pointed needles I knit a sleeve, placing the beads according to the chart I have designed. When the knitting is complete, I bind off, insert the wooden bead and finish the ends. The bead is now ready to be used in a jewelry piece with more traditional beading materials - gemstones, crystals, ceramics or wood.
