Good news everyone! The Thaddeus Kosciuszko National Memorial will reopen this Saturday April 4th. Operating hours will be Saturdays and Sundays from 12-4 pm. Thank you for your patronage!

Independence National Historical Park is closed today due to weather conditions. Stay warm and stay safe!

Independence National Historical Park will be opening on a one hour delay of 10.00 am. Check back for updated information. Be cautious on the walkways, sidewalks, and steps around Independence National Historical Park as they may be slippery.

Independence National Historical Park will have a delayed opening today (2/22/2015) of 11.00 am to allow our snow crew to clear and spread salt on sidewalks and paths around the park.

Due to inclement weather, Independence National Historical Park will close today (2/21/2015) at 4.00.

While it is a chilly 16 degrees in General Kosciuszko's adopted home of Philadelphia, it is a balmy 37 degrees in Belarus (formerly Mereczowszczyzna, Poland), the General's birthplace.

If you wish to visit the Thaddeus Kosciuszko National Memorial do so soon. It is open Saturdays and Sundays 12.00 pm-4.00 pm until the end of October. Starting November 1st, the site will be closed until possibly February (the month of his birthday).

October 18, 1776 Congress passes a resolution that Thaddeus Kosciuszko be appointed in the service of the United States, with the pay of $60 a month and the rank of colonel.

October 15, 1817 Thaddeus Kosciuszko dies in Switzerland. Eventually he was returned to Poland. His body lies in Krakow in the crypt beneath Wawel Castle (pictured) and his heart is at the Royal Castle in Warsaw.
