Yesterday was a big day, but it was not about me or the even the book really. It really hit home when the father of one of COVID-19s victims was called to the podium to speak. He didn't make it five words into it before he totally broke down and his wife had to finish his hand written speech. Sewing style is a dual-pass whipstitch (overcast sewing) with dual Irish linen threads over recessed hemp cords (sawn-in). 9. Paste downs and section dividers are 270 GSM Colorplan paper. 10. Boards are two .098 Davey Binder Boards laminated together (x2). 11. Headbands are hand-sewn silk on hemp cores. 12. In addition to a linen spine lining, an Oxford hollow (Colorplan paper 270 GSM construction) was included on the spine to help protect the leather and spine by allowing separation when open. 13. The Erie County Pennsylvania logo/crest was custom printed by Mapology (Etsy.com) on Organic Cotton Sateen.

Finally, I can talk about this... Book of Remembrance: Erie County COVID-19 Pandemic Memorial book! Commissioned by the Erie County Executive, Kathy Dahlkemper, the Erie County Council, and the Director of the Erie County Library System, Blane Dessy.... Today they held a special memorial at the Blasco library, on the anniversary of Erie's first death due to COVID-19. During this pandemic memorial they revealed the book I had been working on the past few weeks. There are two main section, on for Personal Memorials (500 pgs) and Community Reflections (250 pgs). The first section is for Erie County residence to remember and pontificate about someone they lost. The second is for general thoughts about the pandemic even if you haven't lost anyone. Perhaps the pandemic had a profound effect on your life and you wish to share it. This pandemic is history and this book is to capture the collective experience and preserve it for future generations. Once the memorial book is full, it will move to the Hermitage room in the Blasco Memorial Library for all to have access to.
