A great time at the Austin-Healey Sports & Touring Club's Encounter 2018 in Lancaster last weekend.

The Jaguar XK120 will be featured at the 2019 Amelia Island Concours in March. We’ve got one in our shop that we are just about finished restoring, and another beautiful XK120 that a customer wants to sell. So we'll see if we make the trip down to Florida again with a car. (This year an E-Type we restored received an Amelia Award.)

The calls we get ... Just got off the phone with a young woman working with a movie company who found us online, saw that we deal with "old British cars," and was looking for some information related to cars in 1920s London. Her question: "What color green was used on British cars at that time?" Well, we said, she was probably referring to what is known as "British racing green," although the color was never exact or consistent. "Are you looking to paint a car, then? What ki...nd of car are you talking about? We might be able to find a replica paint code," we said. "Well, really, it's an old Buick D-something," she said. "So, NOT a British car then," we said, with some incredulity, noting that "If it's not going to be a British car, it doesn't really matter if it's the right shade, does it? British car owners aren't going to be noticing if it's the wrong green if it's the wrong car." To top it off, she said the car was supposed to be a London taxi ... which of course, have always been nothing but black. Apparently the director just "likes this particular car," she said, and wants it to be green. "Any dark green will do, then," we replied. This is for a major Disney movie, by the way: "Jungle Cruise," shooting in Atlanta now, set to open next fall, based on the Disneyland ride. Starring Dwayne Johnson, Emily Blunt, and apparently a cameo appearance by a vintage Buick roadster sadly impersonating a classic British car. See more

We’re at the Austin-Healey Club of America meet on Boston's North Shore the Healey Seaside Summit. The show was held today at the Salem Maritime National Historic Site, and we got off land a bit yesterday to sail around Gloucester Harbor on a fishing schooner. Nautical is not something we do very often ... so it has been a nice change of pace.
