FRONTLINE FRIDAY KU is proud of alumna Morgan Staley, who is a frontline worker in Baltimore, Maryland. Morgan graduated in 2018 with a degree in biochemistry and was a member of the nationally-ranked women's soccer team that reached the NCAA final four in 2016. She is a registered nurse at the University of Maryland Medical Center in the Cardiac Surgery ICU. Morgan saw firsthand what it was like to be a nurse when she was a patient in the hospital when she was younger. Havi...ng spent much time as a patient myself, I knew the vulnerable state a trip to the hospital could put one in. The most memorable staff throughout all of my visit were the nurses who would care for me. They were always the presence of the medical staff; they were the first ones to respond, the ones to answer my questions and provide me comfort. I felt the only way to show my true gratitude was to pay it forward. I wanted to be there for someone during their time of need and vulnerability. I wanted to be the smiling face to disarm someone else’s apprehension, I wanted to be the calming presence in a time of such uncertainty, and I wanted to be the shoulder for someone to lean on when it all seemed too overwhelming. Thank you Morgan!
