The LFC would like to extend a sincere thank you to Vinny Patel, the proprietor of our local Budget Host Inn, for an extremely kind gesture he made for the company this afternoon. Truck 63 had just been recalled from a reported structure fire in Manheim Township and was in need of fuel. The tower swung into a convenience store on Oregon Pike where Mr. Patel happened to see them pulling up to the pump. Mr. Patel approached the tower and insisted on paying for the fuel up. We are very thankful for his generosity in helping the company. If you happen to be looking for a place to stay in the Lancaster area, make sure to consider the Budget Host Inn. They are conveniently located in the heart of our district near all the local shopping stops.

On March 7th, 1946, the Lafayette Fire Company printed the first version of "The Lafayette Siren", a progressive fireman's paper that was distributed monthly. This literature featured articles that were directly related to news and events surrounding the local fire service. Following three years of production, this paper was merged with the Lancaster County Fireman Magazine, a predecessor of the current-day Pennsylvania Fireman magazine which is still printed today. We are ex...cited to announce a re-launch of "The Lafayette Siren". This will hopefully be a monthly newsletter that is distributed electronically. The document will feature news and events that surround the Lafayette Fire Company and the community we serve. The first issue, October 2020, is now ready to be viewed and is attached to this post (pictures). Please take a look at the stories and articles we have shared. If you have anything of interest that you think would be a benefit to share within the pages of "The Lafayette Siren", please feel free to reach out to us! Last evening, Company 63 conducted Rapid Intervention Training (RIT) at a recently acquired structure in our run district. Firefighters crawled through numerous obstacles while following a handline to reach a downed firefighter. This type of training would simulate a firefighter who was once working to attack a fire and became trapped or disoriented while doing so. The Rapid Intervention Team serves as a rescue team dedicated to rescuing downed firefighters, and is an important role on the fire ground. Therefore, these types of training are crucial. The building once was the Star Buffet but will be torn down in the near future, as the property will be repurposed.
