BLAIR PA ALERT: National Weather Service Partners-Blair County and Surrounding Areas, Friday, March 26, 2021 Gusty winds will ramp up before daybreak on Friday and continue throughout the day. Gusts approaching 60mph are expected in the Laurel Highlands with widespread gusts in excess of 40mph elsewhere in Central PA. Strong winds may result in broken limbs, downed trees, and power outages. High Wind Warning issued for the Laurel Highlands; Wind Advisory issued for the res...t of Central PA. HIGH WIND WARNING IN EFFECT FROM 6 AM TO 6 PM EDT FRIDAY. WHAT-Southwest winds 20 to 30 mph with gusts up to 60 mph expected. WHERE-Cambria, Blair, Somerset, and Bedford Counties. WHEN-From 6 AM to 6 PM EDT Friday. IMPACTS-Damaging winds will blow down trees and power lines. Widespread power outages are expected. Travel will be difficult, especially for high profile vehicles. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS-People should avoid being outside in forested areas and around trees and branches. If possible, remain in the lower levels of your home during the windstorm, and avoid windows. Use caution if you must drive. Do not go near downed power lines. Report downed lines to 911.
