Let’s talk about writing down goals for a second. There is a little bit of Neuromagicthat happens when you write things down that you want to achieve. It... is called encoding.Encoding not only engages the hippocampus and sets it up for better memory retrieval, it also engages other areas of the brain such as the dorsolateral prefrontal cortex (DLPFC), temporal lobe, parietal lobe, thalamus and basal ganglia. All of these areas engage during the encoding process and similar areas kick into gear when it is time for retrieval. If you have some goals in mind for 2021, write them down, visit them often and let the neuromagic happen!

Vitamin B12 deficiency can lead to peripheral neuropathy. This is typically caused by an unbalanced diet and/or alcoholism. Additionally, between 10% and 25% of the people over 80 years of age may have a B12 deficiency. A number of conditions can reduce the body’s ability to absorb B12, such as pancreatic diseases, Crohn’s disease, HIV infection, gastritis, and multiple sclerosis to list a few. A blood test can reveal B12 levels and confirm if the deficiency is an issue. You... can increase your intake of B12 with red meat, poultry, eggs, dairy products, fish, and vitamin b12 supplements. However, if you have an absorption issue, increasing your intake may not be effective. How do you get your B12? We are passionate about helping others regain their optimum health. Would you have guessed that auditory processing plays a major role in developing dyslexia? The early research by Shaywitz (2003), Ramus (2003), and Vellutino, Fletcher, Snowling, & Scanlon (2004) (summarized in Stanislas Dehaene’s Reading in the Brain) identified problems with phonological awareness, the ability to segment words into their component speech sound components. Other recent neurophysiological research has indicated that disrupted timing of auditory processing, ...particularly in the range relevant to speech sounds, is a core deficit in dyslexia. : We’re always pushing our kids to be the best they can be and this includes allowing them to choose their own hobbies and interests. If your child plays any sports (not just football), you should always be on the lookout for symptoms of a concussion including unusual forgetfulness, disorientation, headache, fatigue, focus issues, and blurred vision. I almost forgot to post this: The forgetting curve is a mathematical formula by Hermann Ebbinghaus that originated in 1885. The curve demonstrated the rate at ...which information is forgotten over time if we don't attempt to retain it. ... Some studies suggest that humans forget approx 50% of new information within an hour of learning it. 4 ways to combat it: 1. Reinforce The Training Regularly Ebbinghaus discovered that information is easier to recall when it’s built upon things you already know. Every time you reinforce the training, the rate of decline reduces. The testing effect says that by simply testing a person’s memory, that memory will become stronger. 2. Improve Clarity Make the information easier to absorb in the first place. If you learn something from an essay or an article, it’s easier to forget the meaning or miss it entirely. Try to represent your information in a diagram, or create a video describing the learning objective. 3. Make It More Relevant The more relevant the training, the easier it is to recall, and the common focus continually encourages the behaviors that are important to your learning. 4. Make It More Interactive People learn better when they’re actively involved than when they’re just passive observers! From: https://www.google.com//elearn/forgetting-curve-combat/amp
