Individuals age 65 and up and those with serious health conditions are now included in Pennsylvania's first phase of coronavirus vaccinations, the Department of Health said Tuesday. Individuals who think they might be in Phase 1A for vaccination are advised to take the quiz in the link below. We are excited to announce that we will be open and delivering meals tomorrow Friday 1/8/21. While several of our staff are still awaiting their test results, one of our former kitchen managers (Nate) and one of our current board members (Craig) have offered to step into our kitchen to support. Many of you may remember Nate from previous years and we are so very grateful to him for his willingness to jump on board during this difficult time! Craig also has been hugely instrum...ental in supporting our kitchen this year and is familiar with all our operations. Go team! We are taking every precaution to manage our operations as safely as possible. Considering that we are functioning with a makeshift team and skeleton crew of volunteers, we will be providing two hot meals to each client tomorrow instead of the usual hot & cold meal set. Next week, we will be working with a modified menu but will provide the hot & cold meals that you all are familiar with. Please understand that we will be honoring a strict set of dietary restrictions until we get back to "normal". With any questions, please give us a call: 717-392-4842. As you may well be aware, we were closed today due to members of our staff having been exposed to COVID-19. We have had all of our staff tested and are still awaiting some results at this time. We feel that it is not safe for us to resume our operations tomorrow 1/7/21 until we are better equipped with more information and have our back-up plan securely in place! We have been so blessed today-- like we are each and every day. But today especially so. We were able to distribute blankets to clients through the kindness & generosity of the staff & friends of Kindred at Home is a home health agency dedicated to providing care to people who wish to ...manage their health from the comfort of their homes. They collected so, so many blankets and donated them to Meals on Wheels of Lancaster! We were able to distribute many of these to our clients. It breaks our hearts to say that for some of our clients this may be the only gift they receive this year. It may also be an opportunity for them to GIVE a gift. So we are MORE than grateful for this opportunity to bring a little cheer to the lives of our clients! Thank you to the Kindred at Home team for thinking of Meals on Wheels this year. It means the most! Not only are we distributing blankets, emergency meals, and home-delivered meals but our kitchen is preparing little goodie bags as well. We are spoiled!! <3 We have also received gifts from many of you--- one mention in particular is GIANTdropped off cookies and fruit baskets this morning. So many cookies! We are going to honor our coordinators at our branch locations in New Holland, Paradise and Christiana with these baskets. Thanks to everyone who brought a little cheer into our lives today (and every other day) be it here or in spirit.

Due to staff members having been exposed to COVID-19, Meals on Wheels of Lancaster will not deliver today January 6th, 2021. At this time all staff have been or will be tested for COVID-19. Pending those results, we will be able to determine a date at which we can reopen safely. We are delivering today, Friday 12/18! We are looking forward to getting back on the road today but we encourage all of our drivers, volunteers, staff and clients to be safe. Some road conditions are not ideal but we want to be sure that we can provide home-delivered meals to the best of our abilities.
