April 17 is World Hemophilia Day. Hemophilia is a medical condition in which blood's ability to clot is severely curtailed, which causes one to bleed profusely from even a small injury. The day is about raising awareness of this and other bleeding disorders. At a time when coronavirus pandemic has had a major impact on people with a bleeding disorder, the objective has never been more important. Learn more here: https://www.worldhemophiliaday.org/

Today, we celebrated Dr. Clark McSparren, one of the founding physicians at Lancaster Pediatrics, as the recipient of the PA AAP 2021 Physician of the Year. He officially received the award on March 20 at the PA AAP virtual conference, but this afternoon, Annette Myarick (Executive Director of PA AAP) presented Dr. McSparren with the award in-person at our offices so all of our providers could celebrate with him. Congratulations, Dr. McSparren on this well-deserved honor! https://lancped.com//lpa-celebrates-2021-pediatrician-of-t

Beginning Monday, March 1st Lancaster Pediatric Associates will be transitioning to EPIC's EMR system. As a result of this change, our current patient portal will be turned off on Thursday, Feb 25th. Patients will need to transition and use MyLGHealth for all of their portal needs. If you are a parent and you already have a MyLGHealth account you can request that any of your children 12 years of age and younger be added to your account by completing a Child Proxy Request F...orm under the Sharing tab in your account. Patients ages 13-17 years old will need to download and complete a Minor Consent Form to establish their own access to MyLGHealth. At that point, parents will no longer have access to their child's records. Once we are up and running, we will be receiving activation codes that we can provide parents and patients to create a MyLGHealth account. We understand that this is a change and we ask for your continued patience through the transition process. Thank you, Lancaster Pediatric Associates

Whether your child is in virtual or in person school this fall it is certain to be full of uncertainty. As a parent may I suggest that you adopt one goal over all others: Create and Keep Calm Most likely the forces in your child’s life whether they be school, peers, or current events are creating the opposite of calm right now. So, the responsibility is on parents to provide a consistent, reassuring force of peace. While force of peace may seem dichotomous; right now, p...Continue reading

Here is Dr. Fenimore's latest article featured in the LNP: The primary care providers of Lancaster understand that this school year is bringing challenges to families unlike any in the past. We know that many of you have felt disappointed by the medical system and its ability to give the concrete, research-based answers to your questions that you rely on us for. The lack of data and research about pediatric COVID 19 and contagiousness has been frustrating. The HEROS resear...Continue reading

What will this school year look like...The following article written by Dr. Pia Fenimore will be published in this Sunday's Lancaster Newspaper The 20-21 school year is not going to be easy. Qualities such as flexibility, courage, and pure grit are suddenly paramount to providing an education to our children. Many people are questioning if it is worth it, and if we should just do online school until the pandemic is over. The American Academy of Pediatrics recently issued a...Continue reading

Here is an early peek at Dr. Pia Fenimore's upcoming article that will be published in this Sunday's Lancaster Newspaper~ Pediatricians across the world have recently started to alert epidemiologists to cases of a new disease preliminarily named Pediatric Multi-Symptom Inflammatory Syndrome (PMIS) which is likely related to the COVID 19 pandemic. Parents need to be aware of this syndrome, however, they do not need to panic. As with most things COVID related, there are still...Continue reading

COVID concerns in the world of pediatrics- This column will be published in the Lancaster Sunday Newspaper tomorrow and was written by LPA's very own Dr. Pia Fenimore. Many adult physicians may be envious of the pediatrician right now. Overall, our patients fare quite well when infected with this virus, in fact, only about 2% of cases reported in the US have been under the age of 18. While we consider this a great blessing, there are concerns about the effects of this pande...Continue reading
