RECOMMENDATION - NO ON QUESTION #2 Voting NO on Question #2 ensures that an emergency declaration stays in effect as long as the crisis lasts, putting people's lives first, instead of letting the state legislature interfere with emergency response efforts.
This week we're taking a look at ballot questions those sneaky Republicans in Harrisburg have put on the primary election ballot. RECOMMENDATION - NO ON QUESTION #1 Voting NO on Question #1 will make sure any Governor, current or future, has the ability to coordinate a real response to crisis for as long as that crisis lastsnot just as long as the legislature says it does.
RECOMMENDATION - YES ON QUESTION #3 Voting YES on Question #3 would add equal rights protections regardless of race or ethnicity to the Pennsylvania constitution.
Today the Lancaster County Democratic Committee recognizes the verdict in the Derek Chauvin trial. He was found guilty on all three counts. This is the best outcome we could have hoped for. As far as justice goes, it cannot be served until there are no more unjust killings of black and brown people by law enforcement. Thousands of black and brown families have pain and grief which cannot be eliminated or reduced by a trial verdict. Justice for them would have their loved ones... still with us. There is so much work to do to protect and celebrate the lives of our sisters and brothers. We must transform our communities and country, provide real public safety for everyone. We are committed to doing that work, to bring this kind of true justice in Lancaster County and Pennsylvania. Diane Topakian Lancaster County Democratic Committee, Chair

"The move follows Smucker’s appointment this year to the powerful House Ways and Means Committee and to a leadership post on the National Republican Congressional Committee -- two positions typically reserved for party loyalists and not necessarily lawmakers committed to working with members of the other party on legislation."
