Today in Irish History August 15th In the liturgical calendar, today is the Feast of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary. Today we celebrate the spiritual and physical departure of the mother of Jesus Christ from the earth, when both her soul and her body brought into the presence of God. Pope Pius XII confirmed this belief, proclaiming, that the Immaculate Mother of God, the ever-Virgin Mary, having completed the course of her earthly life, was assumed body and soul into heavenly glory. It is also the feast day of St. Daga, 6th century Bishop of Iniskin, Dundalk.

Hinger Striker Mass Worthy Presidents, Brothers and Sisters, I hope this email finds you and yours well and as we continue to follow the executive orders on social distancing. With the continued executive orders and the covet19 pandemic preventing us from commemorating the Hunger Strike in person, our Chaplain, Father Ken suggested that we celebrate our annual mass via a live stream on Facebook. The mass will be May 3rd at 2:00 pm. ... This is our 38th annual Hunger Striker Mass and Commemoration, 39 years ago on May 5, 1981, Bobby Sands perished fighting the British for Irish Republican Prisoner treatment and the five demands to restore prisoner of war privileges. 1.
