Sun is out and flowers are in Downtown Latrobe! A special thank you to the many annual donors and the 35 volunteers (10 of which are Penn State Master Gardeners) who offer their time and talent by meticulously planting what is now grown to 17,000+ tulips and an additional 6,400 flowering plants which bring life to 74 planters and 72 additional large gardens in, around and throughout Latrobe and Unity Township. Great teamwork! #Awesome #Getoutside

A positive sign of life Downtown Latrobe this morning after a 2 month project delay - ladders were raised to start the preservation of the Hewitt Real Estate facade (originally built in 1874)! Work should be completed by mid June... and we hope everyone enjoys the final architectural illustration that has some small but importance updates with new polychromatic highlights on the upper tin cornice and window dressings contrasted against a more pronounced brick color. #Preservation #InThisTogether #Revitalization

Remember this special day!? #ThrowbackThursday to when rainbows appeared for most of the day immediately after Arnie had his ashes spread over the Latrobe Country Club following his televised funeral at the Saint Vincent Basilica. If you took a rainbow pic and its still on your phone (Sept 26th, 2016)...please share yours!

Please consider supporting local businesses, they make up the fabric of our town - and in this instance doing so tastes great... #ThrowbackThursday to the completed Scotty G's facade renovation a year ago this week in Downtown Latrobe!

All of our many health care providers, police, shut ins, and elderly in area nursing homes could certainly use a good neighbor these days. If you aren't sure how to help and have kids who are occasionally stir-crazy bored, PLEASE consider having them write hand made cards to any of the above! We are all needed and connected as Latrobeans no matter where we are now, and there are so many small reminders throughout downtown. For instance, our first ever Mister Rogers Trolley Street Sign with Latrobe native Sandy Dell, center, and her family who sponsored it. Sandy now lives in New York City... Her brother John's wife, Beth Bridge Dell, also pictured, is a local nurse who may soon be on the front lines joining so many brave health care providers across the country. Lets #FindtheHelpers and #HelptheHelpers in #MisterRogersNeighborhood!

Scaffolding and scraping of paint always positive signs of life and progress in Downtown Latrobe!! More details to come in the coming weeks and months (and early 2021) on the new owner initiated historic reconstruction of the former Mailey's Bakery facade; the painting of the Gibson Thomas building and the planning just starting up now for the adjacent Historic Eisman Building facade. Also a pic of Hotel Loyal nearly completed upgrade from a few weeks ago. These are really hard days but in less than a year from now we will have an almost completely new infrastructure (as the years of street construction will be finally complete) and downtown will boast a number of historic properties given a new life and most importantly, the many businesses, individuals and families who make Latrobe such a great place in so many ways.

Busy week with some good progress on Hewitt Real Estate restoration and across the street at the new PaperHeart Affairs facade! A special thanks to the resilience and dedication of the contractors (JJ Hauser & Sons, Inc and Old School Pro Painting) who, along with the building and business owners came together with our design team to plan, patiently wait and finally implement. Also thanks to the great folks at Latrobe Rotary for presenting a generous $5,000 grant on Wed. to help make sure the new historic style holiday wreathes decorations still become a reality this year! #Progress #HangInThere #ShopLocalLatrobe #MoreToComeSoon
