Laurel Arts Education and Dance Center

After much discussion, we have decided it is prudent to delay the start of dance until Monday, January 11. We are all anxious to return, and we’ve certainly missed you! The same safety precautions will be in place when we return: everyone entering the center must wear a mask, masks will be worn during classes, students are asked to bring water bottles, we will take temperatures, and we ask that students stay home if they are ill. You aren’t being charged for the classes we missed during the shut-down, but it may take a little time to get the bookkeeping entries made. We are still planning to have our recital in May. The teachers and staff will be meeting shortly to work out plans for the rest of the dance season. We WILL continue with Rhythms rehearsals and create a DVD of our performance; Miss Cindy will send more information to Rhythms participants after dance classes resume. Slight change to the last post. You can pick up logo wear and ornaments until 6 pm today at Dressler. If we get a snowstorm, the center may not be open Wednesday and Thursday. We will take what hasn't been picked up to Atlas Printing, 421 W. Patriot St., Somerset. Atlas is open through Friday of this week from 8 am to 4:30 pm, and next week Monday through Wednesday from 8 am to 4:30 pm. Studio Kids pictures can also be picked up there. If you want to call first, the number is 445-2516.

If you ordered logo wear or ornaments, you can pick them up at the Dressler Center, 214 S. Harrison Ave., Somerset, between noon and 6 p.m. today, Wednesday and Thursday. After Thursday, the center will be closed for the Christmas Holiday.

A Laurel Arts staff member has tested positive for the COVID-19 virus. Although this person does not come in direct contact with students, the employee has had close contact with other staff members at the Education & Dance Center. Therefore, we are closing the dance center beginning today. We plan to reopen Monday, January 4, 2021. This allows for proper quarantine measures to be implemented and includes the previously scheduled holiday break. Rhythms of Christmas will be p...ostponed to a later date, and we will provide that information as soon as it is available. COUPLE THINGS: We will be rehearsing for Rhythms of Christmas as usual Saturday morning, but we are NOT doing FUN DAY (see below) so please plan to return in the afternoon 15 minutes before your recording time (listed below.) If you want to purchase a DVD of the show (Company Christmas Show and Rhythms of Christmas), please bring a check made payable to Union and Main for $15. Rhythms participants will get their ROC t-shirt, a packet of Christmas crafts created by... Miss Marsha, and a coupon donated by Pizza Hut on Saturday. WE WILL HAVE A FUN DAY at a later date. (We'll celebrate Rhythms of Christmas in whatever month we're permitted to get together as a group!) Laurel Arts has cancelled its First Night of Christmas for December 12, so we will also plan a showing of the video at a later date (hopefully the same time we have Fun Day!) Parents will not be permitted to accompany their child to Suite 111 for the recording. We are limiting the number of people in the room, and we want to eliminate any distractions. Couple things to note ... masks or shields are now mandatory for everyone while at the Education & Dance Center, including during dance class (per order of the Department of Health.) We will have classes Monday-Wednesday, November 23-25. We'll be off for Thanksgiving Thursday-Sunday, November 26-29. Classes will resume Monday, November 30. Have a Happy Thanksgiving!

GET YOUR MONSTER MASH (or mask) ON ... For a $2.00 donation, you can come to dance class in your favorite Halloween costume October 26 through October 31. REMINDER: The 2020 Kiwanis Halloween Parade will be Thursday Oct. 29 at the Georgian Place from 5:00-7:00pm or until supplies last. It is a drive-thru parade. Please use the Lake Road entrance. There will be fire police to direct you. There will be trunk or treat before the kids get their treat bags. The owners of the trunks will approach your vehicle to pass out candy.
