Mary A. Galati Trunzo November 20, 2020 Mary A. Galati Trunzo, 98, of Carbondale, died Friday at the Jewish Home of Eastern Pa. Her husband was the late Carmen Trunzo.... Born in Carbondale, daughter of the late Joseph and Antonia Mangiardo Galati, Mary enjoyed shopping, cooking, going to lunch, getting her hair and nails done and a Dunkin Donut coffee. Surviving are a daughter, Carleen Winters and husband, Phil, Carbondale; a grandson, Carmen Winters and wife, Jessica, Exeter; two granddaughters, Amanda Imperiale and husband, Chris, Carbondale; Natalie Aniska and husband, Josh, Taylor; three great-grandchildren, Anthony Imperiale, Jack and Charlie Winters; a sister, Catherine Arthur and husband, Edward, Greenfield Twp.; several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by siblings, Russell, Salvatore, Dominic, Michael, Angelo and Anthony Galati; and Delores McAndrew. The funeral will be Monday from Lawrence A. Gabriel Funeral Home and Cremation Services Inc., 74 N. Main St., Carbondale, with Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. in Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church. Interment, Calvary Cemetery, Mayfield. Those attending the funeral Mass are asked to go directly to church. The family will receive friends Sunday at the funeral home from 4 to 7 p.m. Masks and social distancing are required at the funeral home and church. Edward W. Coleman November 11, 2020 Edward W. Coleman, 88, of Carbondale, died Wednesday at home. His wife is the former Phyllis Cicco.... Born in Carbondale, son of the late Thomas and Elizabeth (Booths) Coleman, he was a veteran of the United States Army as well as a member of St. Rose of Lima Church, Carbondale. Ed enjoyed his train and car collection, as well as hunting. Also surviving are a son, Edward Coleman and wife, Judy; a daughter, Maribeth Ciprian and husband, Charles; grandchildren, Edward Coleman and wife, Amanda; Christopher Coleman and wife, Jamie; Eric, Gino and Michael Ciprian; two great-grandchildren, Mia and Liam Coleman; a sister, Veronica and husband, Dr. Harry Preuss; sisters-in-law, Marie Cicco, Celestine Cicco, Jean Cicco and Mary Cicco Kuper; several nieces and nephews. He was also preceded in death by a brother, Thomas Coleman; and nephew, Thomas Coleman. The funeral will be Friday with Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. in St. Rose of Lima Church, Carbondale. Interment, Our Mother of Sorrows Cemetery, Finch Hill. Viewing will be Friday, 8:30 to 10:30 a.m., at the Lawrence A. Gabriel Funeral Home and Cremation Services Inc., 74 N. Main St., Carbondale. Andrew T. Oleksa Jr. October 26, 2020 Andrew T. Oleksa Jr., 68, Scranton, died Monday at Regional Hospital, Scranton. His wife is the former, Marianne Brady. They celebrated their 41st wedding anniversary on July 14.... Born in New York, N.Y., he was the son of the late Andrew and Eleanor Scalise Oleksa Sr. He was a former shift supervisor at Pizza Hut. Andrew enjoyed sharing his love of music with everyone he encountered. He also enjoyed watching movies. The funeral will be Monday from Lawrence A. Josephine Lombardo Lapera October 25, 2020 Josephine Lombardo Lapera, 88, of Carbondale, died at her daughter’s home on Sunday. Her husband was the late Bernard Ben Lapera.... Born in Richmondale, daughter of the late Rocco and Caterina Sansalone Lombardo, Josephine’s greatest joy was her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was a lifelong member of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Parish’s Altar and Rosary Society and a Eucharistic minister. Josephine had an immense, unshakeable faith. She enjoyed making her fried meatballs for her family and shopping with her sister-in-law, Fran Mancuso. The family extends their sincere gratitude to Carol Ohmnacht, Dar Ferraro-Ploch, Dr. Matthew Haley and office staff, Dr. Fitzpatrick, Hospice of the Sacred Heart nurses and staff, Lana Banko and Caitlyn Vauter. Joseph R. Vito October 21, 2020 Joseph R. Vito, 48, Carbondale died at home on Wednesday.... Born in Carbondale, son of Richard Monte Vito and Roseanne Scarfalloto and the late Nick Scarfalloto, Joe was a spirited entrepreneur who owned many successful businesses. Every fall, Joe looked forward to opening his pumpkin stand where you would find him smiling brightly and generously giving away pumpkins. He loved to be around people smiling and laughing. It gave him joy to make others happy. He was a charismatic, charming and very generous person, who had a infectious smile, and made people laugh and smile every day. He cherished every minute spent with his daughter, Katie... his world revolved around her. She was his everything... his one true love. Surviving are: a daughter, Katelyn Marie Vito; four sisters, Bernadette Bier and husband, Tommy, Mayfield; Laura Berrios and husband, Carlos, Whites Crossing; Joanne Scarfalloto and husband, Joseph, Staten Island; Nicole Vito, Jessup; three brothers, Richard Vito, Whites Crossing; Marco Scarfalloto, Odessa Texas; Mario Scarfalloto, New Orleans; cousins, Keith Tolerico and Brian Tolerico, Carbondale and many other cousins; Jimmy Rogari, his best and most loyal friend since childhood, Carbondale; Lisa Depoti, a devoted and loyal companion for many years, Mayfield; several aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.
