Ice dunes have formed along the Lake Erie shoreline. These structures look amazing and can seem inviting to check out, however they have many hazards that can leave one trapped. LCFC has attended courses and preformed practice scenarios on ice dunes. These are extremely difficult rescues and a risk to patient and rescuers. Some of the dune cavities can be over 12' deep and open to water in the bottom. Please stay off the ice dunes!

Last night members went around town and dug out hydrants. Please remember: if you’re able, you should remove snow and ice within a 3-foot perimeter of the hydrant. Shovel a pathway from the hydrant to the street so firefighters can access it. We can save minutes in getting water on a fire to preserve property or save a life.

Thank you Andy Vasilik for plowing our stations out this morning! Chief Hosack was getting his butt kicked on the atv trying to clear this heavy snow. Roads should have atleast one path at this time. Lake City Borough employees had a hard time getting in with road conditions and Girard Boro made passes on our streets to open them up. It was great to see everyone helping each other out this morning as they were stuck in the roadways. If able, clear your nearest hydrant we appreciate it alot!!

Reminder the quarterly storm siren test will be held today 1/15/22 at 12:30... Are you prepared for disaster? *Do you have a disaster plan?... *How would you tell what was going on if phone/internet communications went down? *Do you have a Battery Operated NOAA Weather Radio or AM/FM Radio? *How would you get in touch with your family who isn't with you? These quarterly test ensure that the activation system and audible warning are in operation. If there is a power failure then most sirens will not activate as they are not on a generator back up. Take these quarterly test and develop and practice a plan with your family. As many in the area who had dealt with the Albion and Lake City Tornado's and recent close calls would tell you, Chaos is an understatement during the aftermath. Visit www.Ready.gov for information on planning for disasters.

At last nights monthly meeting the Lake City Firefighters Auxiliary announced its disbandment with the donation of funds to the fire company and its records to the fire company archive. The North Girard Fire Company Ladies Auxiliary began in the 1940’s during WW2. In 1957 the town of North Girard was renamed to Lake City. The Auxiliary was renamed to the Lake City Fire Company Ladies Auxiliary. In the early 2000’s a change in the auxiliary brought on more men to assist with... the fundraisers and other activities of the auxiliary and the name changed to the Lake City Firefighters Auxiliary. The membership of the auxiliary became smaller and smaller, with the loss of great individuals and no new members to assist. The decision was made by the auxiliary to disband at the end of 2021. The Fire Company was very fortunate to have such a great support group that assisted not only at fundraising events but on emergency calls, during classes and many other functions. With approximately 80 years of service and one of the longest lasting auxiliaries in the region we cannot thank this group enough for all they have done. The Lake City Fire Company has offered the Auxiliary members immediate membership to the fire company including honoring their years of service. See more

As we wind down the year 2021 we take a look back upon incidents LCFC responded to. The year brought many water rescues including multiple drowning incidents, large residential and commercial structure fires, multiple wildland fires, land search and rescues, multi victim MVAs, numerous EMS calls and a state water rescue deployment. Currently LCFC sits at 728 incidents for 2021. A record year. We look forward to 2022 and some exciting projects in the works. Thank you for your continuing support! As always if anyone is interested in joining the fire company message us for details.

Lake City Fire Company received a generous donation in honor of the late Marvin Waxham Sr. to be used for equipment for the firehouse. We were informed not too long ago that the AED’s we had in service were being decommissioned and we would no longer be able to purchase new pads or parts if needed. We used this donation to begin phasing out those AED’s with a newer model that is also compatible with our partners’ cardiac monitors at West County Paramedics Association. We are EXTREMELY appreciative of this donor and their contribution to our Company! Thank you!!

Thank you to our friends at the Erie County Department of Public Safety for having our backs every day of the year. Your jobs are mostly thankless but WE at Lake City Fire appreciate all that you do every day! Answering phones, dispatching units, dealing with the wrecks, fires, rescues, and working longer than normal hours; yet you’re always beside us every step of the way. THANK YOU! Every year during the second week of April, the telecommunications personnel in the public... safety community, are honored. This week-long event is a time to celebrate and thank those who dedicate their lives to serving the pubic. #iam911 #firstfirstresponders

MODERATE FIRE DANGER - 4/10/21 - Recommended not to burn. Fires can start from most accidental causes, but except for lightning fires in some areas, the number ...of starts is generally low. Fires in open cured grasslands will burn briskly and spread rapidly on windy days. Timber fires spread slowly to moderately fast. See more

Sacrifice is a short film that tells the story of the everyday lives of firefighters. This film was inspired by the Adorama Create No Matter What Cinematic Stor...ytelling challenge. First of all, it is rather difficult to tell a complete story in 60 seconds. In order to be successful, I had to create a story around something I was already familiar with. Secondly, to stand out the topic needed to be a powerful story. Luckily, a friend of mine, Juston Cannon who is a firefighter at Lake City Fire Company offered to help by starring in my film along with his family. I couldn't have done it without them and I'm very grateful, especially since most people don't like cameras being pointed at them. Not only do firefighters put their lives on the line for their community, they often have to miss out on quality time with family. Make sure to support your local volunteer fire department. #createnomatterwhat #adorama

It is with deep regret we have to announce the cancellation of our carnival for this year, AGAIN. We've spent hours deliberating, and after talking with the Department of Health, it would be incredibly hard to predict what hoops would need to be jumped through and what turn out we would could anticipate with capacity restrictions in place. This was not an easy decision. We hope that you can understand why we had to come to this decision, and that you will continue to support us as always. Please come find us at our future events which we will announce to you as they come. Thank you all!

Fire crews all over the county were busy for yet another day as conditions were ripe for fires. Lake City Fire Company responded to a large brush fire with expo...sure to a nearby woods. The fire ended up being about 2-3 acres and was located off from West Lake Road (Route 5) in Girard Township. Winds continued to feed the fire and crews had to clear combustible materials to eventually choke off the fire. See more

LCFC on the return from a 2 acre brush fire on West Lake Road. Engine 572 and Utility/Brush 5616 responded with a crew of 8. Units arrived and 5616 went to work on suppression, 572 made a hit with the deck gun on fire in some pine trees and crew made a fire line to stop the spread. Platea FD was requested for their Tanker for additional water. Crew brought the fire under control and completed overhaul operations.
