Hi, there! So many new faces following @leafandtwig in recent months. I wanted to reach out and introduce myself. I’m Melissa, the owner and herbalist behind Leaf & Twig. We just celebrated 5 years this past November and I am so excited I get to share my love of herbs and teas with you. A few things about me:... My husband and I have one daughter and three cats I love to read and have set myself a lofty goal of 30 books this year. (Can be tough to find time to read with an almost 1 year old!) A little #thursdayteatips for you! Do you ever wonder why your tea doesn’t taste the way you think it should? You drink it at your favorite tea shop but when you make it at home, it’s just not the same? It might be you are not making it strong enough! If you’ve tried to steep it longer hoping it would taste the way you want, you’ve probably learned that it doesn’t make it any stronger. It may in fact, give it a bitter or astringent taste instead.... When you read the instructions, it says to use X amount per cup. Well, when I write instructions I base a cup off 8oz. of hot water (1 cup). Most mugs hold WAY more water than that. What does your winter tea ritual look like? For me, it’s taking my tea in the comfy chair in my bedroom. I have a reading nook by the windows with a chair, ottoman and a little electric fireplace on the wall nearby. After the little one goes down for her morning nap, I take a half hour to myself a few days a week to make tea and sit in this space. I enjoy sipping my tea as I look out at the trees and enjoy a few minutes of quiet. I would love to hear from ...you. As we have all spent more time at home this past year than any other, I feel like this has become even more prevalent. I know I have been creating this for my family and I.
