Dear Co-op Members and Friends, This evening, after conversation with the LLCM COVID Task Force, the Co-op board voted to suspend in-person worship and other activities, effective immediately. This decision was made in light of the guidance offered by the Pennsylvania Department of Health and the Office of the Bishop of the Lower Susquehanna Synod, and in light of the 18.6% positivity rate for Lebanon County in the month of November. (Organizations are encouraged to go virtua...l-only if the positivity rate in their area is 10% or higher.) In the meantime, worship will continue to be available via live stream on the Co-Op YouTube channel every Sunday morning at 9 am, and the service will be archived for viewing any time. Both the COVID Task Force and the Co-op board will continue to monitor conditions over the next several weeks. When the positivity rate decreases to a safer level and it seems prudent to do so, we will resume in-person services and other activities. It is possible that this will happen in time for Christmas Eve. If not, please rest assured that there will be livestreamed worship on Christmas Eve for the Co-op. Until we are able to safely gather again, please remember this: the "good news of great joy" of the birth of our Savior did not first come to people gathered for worship. It came to a young girl preparing for her wedding. It came to a carpenter trying to make a difficult decision. It came to shepherds in the middle of their everyday work. The good news of Jesus Christ is bigger than any building, bigger than any season, bigger than even a global pandemic. And while our preparations for the Feast of the Nativity this year will be unlike any year in living memory, that good news will still win out. The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not, and cannot, and will not overcome it. Yours in hopeful waiting, Pastor Bob
