Thanksgiving is a time for us to reflect on the many blessings we have experienced throughout the year. While this year has seen its challenges, as a nonprofit veterans organization, we’ve navigated through the uncharted waters of this pandemic while continuing our focus on supporting our wounded and injured veterans. Over the last several months, we’ve continued to answer the call to assist our nation’s real heroes. When we reflect back on this year, I’m extremely thankful... for our volunteers. We know Thanksgiving may look different for us this year, but no matter what the day brings, we ask that you all pause to be thankful for your families, your friends, and for the men and women out there fighting for our freedom every day. Thank you all for the support. Stay safe and Happy Thanksgiving.

On the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month of 1918, an armistice, or temporary cessation of hostilities, was declared between the Allied nations and Germany in the First World War. Observed as Armistice Day beginning the following year, November 11th became a legal federal holiday in the United States in 1938. In the aftermath of World War II and the Korean War, Armistice Day became Veterans Day, a day set aside to honor American veterans of all wars who served hono...rably in the military during peace and war. As we approach Veterans Day, we at LEEK/SAVAW want to recognize our veteransactive-duty service members, guardsmen, and reservists who have served our great country. We are proud to say that veterans are still serving this country with the same sense of duty and perseverance. Thank you for your service, your resiliency, for your contributions to our nation, the many ways you continue to serve your communities and our nation, and your continued commitment to the Defense of this Great Country!!! We ask you to pause this Veterans Day to remember the significance of the sacrifices made by current veterans and those from generations past who served on embattled shores, both here and abroad, to protect our freedom. We encourage you to take advantage of this Veterans Dayand remember to personally thank a Veteran for their service! And finally, we ask that you remember to keep the deployed Soldiers, Marines, Sailors, Airmen and their families in mind as you celebrate our freedom they continue to defend. Today is veterans day. Today we celebrate those who made a commitment to serving and protecting this great nation. Today we thank those who came before us and those who never made it home. Today is a day to remember those who made the ultimate sacrifice, and those that will honor that sacrifice for years to come. We wold love if everyone would post their favorite picture from their time in service below. We would also appreciate families to post photos of their loved ones who made the ultimate sacrifice for this country so we may honor them. Gone but never forgotten. God Bless!!!

Happy Birthday Marines. Heres to 245 year as the Few The Proud. The most capable fighting force on the planet. So what if i'm a little bias. My brothers and sisters, this is our day. From the halls of Montezuma to the shores of Tripoli. The United States Marines proudly serve this country universally in all of the battle-spaces. Air, Land, and Sea. They are equally capable and feared in all of them. Semper Fidelis and God Speed. Post your favorite photo of you eithe...r in or serving with the the Marines. Check out the birthday message https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oAjz7U7uZPw From the Col: Happy Birthday, Marines! November 10, 1775 is the official birthday of the United States Marine Corps. The Few and the Proud have been ‘first to fight’ in every American war since before our Nation’s founding. From their origins in the American Revolution; to the Shores of Tripoli in the First Barbary War; to the Halls of Montezuma in the Mexican War; to iconic victories at Belleau Wood and Iwo Jima; to the frozen landscape of Chosin Reservoir; to the rice paddies of Vietnam; to the sands of Iraq and Afghanistan, the United States Marines have carved a legacy of valor that is second to none. Throughout their illustrious history, Marines have fought our country’s battles with uncommon valor, earning a reputation for their fighting spirit and unwavering dedication to duty. Today, the men and women of the Marine Corps serve around the world, instilled with the timeless values of honor, courage, and commitment while adapting to the evolving battlefields of the 21st Century. To every Marine, and their families who support them, thank you for all you do for our country. And thanks for your support of our Veteran’s Program, enabling our mission success. The Marine Corps motto, Semper Fidelis, is Latin for always faithful, signifying a Marine’s loyalty to the mission, to the Corps and to the country. Today on the 245th birthday of the Marine Corps, join us in saluting all Marines, former Marines, and their families everywhere. Semper Fi and Happy Birthday!
