A long-term diet low in carbohydrates but high in fat and protein from vegetables could lower the risk of developing the most common subtype of glaucoma. A New York Eye and Ear Infirmary of Mount Sinai researcher (NYEE) helped discover that if at-risk groups stick to these dietary limits, their risk of developing a type of glaucoma could be reduced by 20 percent.

An eating disorder that renders a person severely deficient in some vitamins, or being malnourished due to poverty, can rob a person of his or her sight. A case study published last year of a British teen blinded by his limited diet goes to show how vital a healthy, well-balanced diet is to vision health. #DietandEyeSight

Macular degeneration and diabetic retinopathy have something in common. Although the indirect causes may be different, a consequence of untreated AMD or untreated diabetes is similar. Pink eye (or conjunctivitis) is very common. It’s a minor issue most of the time, but sometimes it can be a symptom of something more serious. It’s usually caused by the inflammation or an infection of the transparent membrane (conjunctiva) covering your eyelid and the white of your eye.
