Next Tuesday at 9:00am, the Senate Judiciary Committee will hold a public hearing to examine the PA Dog Law and other animal welfare issues and legislation. Inc...luded in the discussion will be my Victoria's Law bill which would steer the retail pet market to more humane sources like shelters, rescues and responsible breeders and protect unsuspecting consumers from purchasing animals bred in puppy mills. The way in which we treat animals is a direct reflection on us and our values. I thank Judiciary Committee Chair Senator Lisa Baker for scheduling next week's hearing on these important animal welfare issues.

As we recognize Domestic Violence Awareness Month, analysis of the FBI’s data system is starting to show Links between animal abuse and other crimes. The animal/human violence Link was cited in the need for a federal animal cruelty crimes division. The Bureau of Dog Law Enforcement, Pennsylvania Auditor General, Senator Judy Schwank, Rep. Eddie Day Pashinski , Cappy, the "PA Capitol Police Dog" and the HS...US are calling for legislative action to protect PA pups. Please contact your state legislators and ask them to urgently support the self-funded Bureau of Dog Law Enforcement that inspects licensed dog kennels and with the ability to shut down unlicensed kennels to receive adequate funding through a small license increases to help dogs in our state.
