November 3rd is Election Day. Whether it’s via skateboard, rocket car, tricycle, dirigible, carrier pigeon, semaphore flags, singing telegram, Aldis lamp or some more traditional method, whatever it takes for you to get your vote into the ballot box, do it!

To sum it up, good advertising is a mix of understanding, tenacity and consistency with a dusting of creative magic.

Deb Drake is our media director. She has more than 25 years of media buying/planning experience, the last 21 being in the Lehigh Valley. She has worked on both ...large national accounts and smaller local/regional accounts. Her experience covers all mediums: digital, consumer print, broadcast (TV and radio), newspaper, out of home, transit, trade print and even the occasional food truck. Basically, if there’s advertising space available, Deb will find a way to buy it and negotiate the heck out of it. She treats her clients’ budgets like her own checking account -- with great care and stretching each dollar as far as possible. And when it comes to negotiating, Deb is a lot like a good judge tough but fair. See more

When we developed Boyle Construction’s website revamp, we believed that the pictures of their people and the way they work were as important as their portfolio images. We wanted images that would elevate the site. We looked to the expertise of John Sterling Ruth Studio, a world-class photographer, to help us produce the images that would represent Boyle best. We wanted to telegraph Boyle’s down-to-earth, I-mean-business approach to their workgritty, organic, genuine and pro...fessional. A desaturated color world was chosenone that felt warm and personal, but representative of the gravity of their work and the seriousness of their people. John and Erik helped us achieve our goals. In fact, the photography that resulted from this project won John’s studio an ADDY Award this year. We are extremely proud to have worked with them on the site and grateful to Boyle for the chance to produce these images.

Scott is one of our founding partners and our chief copywriter. A few decades ago, he traded in covering politics for the AP for a life in the ad world, a decision that has taken him to agencies in Providence, Boston, New York, and eventually the Lehigh Valley. His work has been recognized by prestigious creative competitions such as the Addy Awards and Communication Arts. He started Lehigh Mining & Navigation in 2004, where he continues to win regional and national awards giving voice to the agency’s big ideas. Scott is one of the few agency owners who loves staring at a blank sheet of paper for as long as it takes to solve an advertising problem. Chalk it up to a strong Puritan work ethic.

Precision Medical asked us to develop a TV spot for their new portable oxygen concentrator (POC). After several meetings and many hours of work, the concept was approved: A senior woman was about to meet a man for a first date and felt confident, even with her POC. The idea felt real and fresh. We hired a director and crew, found a location and chose actors. One of our creatives happened to see a news clip featuring a grandmother reuniting with her grandson after a five-month absence. The idea seemed more relevant to this moment than our original concept. We called the client and quickly created a new storyboard and script. Precision Medical loved it. The lesson: Wait for the idea that takes your breath away. It will take work and time, but don’t settle for less.

An unapologetic creative, Denis spends a lot more time doing administrative duties than he would prefer. So it's like a day out of school when he gets to direct video and photography shoots. Here he is as a cooperative and focused lighting model at a recent shoot for Boyle Construction.

Much like life, the process is exercising wild abandon and then tempering it with some well-placed adulting.

Happy Labor Day weekend, everyone! We’re takin’ a break from workin’ in the coal mine and we hope you're doing the same! Music fact: The music and lyrics for Working in the Cool Mine were written by Allen Toussaint and became an international hit for Lee Dorsey in 1966. As we launched Boyle Construction's new website, we also revamped Boyle's social properties and developed a cohesive social strategy. Boyle Construction is certainly the king of construction, but what sets them apart is not only their passion for their clients, but their people. The beating heart of their success is their investment in their employees, as loyal a work family as you’ll find anywhere. It’s no accident then that the foundation of their web presence is the ph...otography of their leadership and team membersboth in portraiture and on job sites. We were able to leverage those images and Boyle’s messaging to put together a strategy that is unfolding successfully on all their social sites. This is a true partnership we work hand-in-hand with Boyle to ensure an authentic voice. Clearly, this is Built Better Together. See more
