5 tips for boosting your body's defenses - https://mailchi.mp//5-tips-for-boosting-your-bodys-defenses

Lehigh Valley Chiropractic, PC 27.10.2020

While in recent months, due to COVID, our practice has been limited to urgent and acute issues, in the past week, we’ve been allowed to reopen to all patients and types of care. We have increased our treatment hours and are looking forward to serving you again! We realize that you may have put off care due to this crisis, but now is the time to take care of your body and get the adjustments you need. Appointments are filling fast, and we welcome you to schedule online (https...://clients.mindbodyonline.com/classic/admhome ), by email [email protected] or by phone: 610-868-6800. We have put in place all of the necessary precautions recommended by the CDC and PA Department of Health. And, as always, our goal is to provide you with a fully therapeutic experience. Our professional cleaning staff works hard to help us maintain a fresh and disinfected space. The new office is very spacious, and we limit the number of patients in our waiting room. Our staff wears masks, and they are healthy & fever-free. We have humidifiers running to reduce viral transmission. Additionally, we offer telehealth visits when appropriate or requested. And please know that we welcome any suggestions you might have that will make your visit more comfortable. Also, if you are realizing that this is the time to really take care of your weight, your overall health, and to manage those underlying conditions, we are here to help. Dr. Kristen Bentson is uniquely trained in functional medicine and can provide you with a practical approach to health and wellness. She also literally wrote the book on managing digestive problems (like IBS, gas, bloating, diarrhea, constipation, IBD, reflux, and other functional gut disorders) and can provide you with a holistic approach that works. Fill out this quick and easy contact form to get started: https://drkristenbentson.com/work-with-dr-kristen-bentson/ If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to get in touch with us. You can email the office directly [email protected], or call 610-868-6800.

Take a moment and take a deep breath. Breathe in your nose and out your mouth. Next, focus on what you can do right now for your health. If you've been thinking about making some changes and "getting healthy" this is absolutely the time to do it. Healthy individuals are able to fight this virus in a different way than people with underlying health issues. Let's work together to get and stay healthy. Here's where to start:... 1. Buy a humidifier and a hygrometer. A hygrometer measures relative air humidity. Research suggests viruses may be less easily transmitted when the relative humidity is above 43%. Humidifiers may also decrease the dryness of your skin and mucous membranes. 2. Move your body. Exercise is shown to improve the immune response by boosting cells that help your body fight infection. Shoot for 30 minutes each day. Do whatever makes you feel good (yoga, walking, biking, hiking, swimming...). 3. Unprocess your diet. Skip the foods coming out of boxes, bags, and cans. Work on eating real food ingredients at each meal. Here are a few of our favorites: https://drkristenbentson.com//my-top-10-favorite-foods-to/ 4. Don't eat added sugar, numbers (like red dye #40 and polysorbate #80) or chemicals. Read the list of ingredients found on every food label and steer clear of stuff you can't pronounce. Eat from the earth, not a test tube. 5. Get vitamin D. Sunlight, supplements, and certain foods (like salmon, sardines, tuna, egg yolks, and wild mushrooms) are key. Vitamin D is known to have a powerful anti-viral effect. Get your vitamin D levels tested (simple blood test!) and aim for optimal levels (50-80 ng/mL) 6. Manage your stress. We are huge fans of HeartMath. This is a powerful tool that we've recommended to many of our patients dealing with anxiety: https://store.heartmath.com/tech/ 7. SLEEP. Go to bed early. Get yourself into a good sleep routine. I recommend 10 pm - 6 am. Whatever the timing, aim for at least 7 hours. Practice positive thinking and focus on what's good. Your brain can't anchor to fear and gratitude at the same time. Choose gratitude, choose positive thoughts, and be strong! Warmly, Drs. Scott and Kristen Bentson
