We love all things BUNNY! Our preschool kiddos engaged in a variety of different learning activities. One that LOVED was matching carrot shapes for their bunnies. Our toddlers and their families are always excited to go home with fun hats based on our themes. Check out these cute bunny ears! Each child will make this on their own. We can’t wait to see everyone’s bunny ears this week.

Our mobile infants are so much FUN! They love to grab and grasp and explore anything and everything. This activity, peel the eggs free, engaged each child and built their motor skills. Additionally, they continued to work on their hand eye coordination. Learning starts at the infant stage and our amazing teachers work to keep the engagement of all the little one in their room! Our teachers are all AMAZING! Check out our Orange Giraffes enjoying some discovery and investigation. Today they explored examples of nature through a magnifying glass. This week we are exploring holidays around the world! Check out the learning and FUN our sweet young toddlers are having! They created a Star of David, their very own Christmas tree, learned about sticky gift wrap, and practiced matching colors on their sticky wall. During each activity they are exploring a variety of textures and materials, increasing their motor skills, and having the time of their life. Children are never too young to explore, learn, and have some mes...sy fun! Their faces say it all! Check out our sweet elf crew! Today at Lightbridge Academy of Fort Washington, our children and caregivers dressed like elves! Our preschool especially loved the challenge of creating a sled that would fit 3 friends! They worked together to come up with a plan. Next they went through a trial and error process and found success! Great job! Happy Halloween (Eve) from our Lightbridge Academy Family to yours! Our school was full of fun, laughs, and so much LOVE! Each classroom made a spooktacular haunted house, played games, ate delicious snacks, read Halloween stories, and created many different Halloween themed art. Each party was so fun and so special! ... We look forward to jumping into our November learning activities next week!

Our children at Lightbridge Academy of Fort Washington are having so much fun as they learn about thanksgiving! Today, preschoolers made turkey foot tracks and created turkeys using their names as the feathers. Our toddlers fed a turkey! Our sweet youngest toddlers practiced their hand eye coordination as they used dotters to decorate feathers for their turkey! Each child will go home with a center piece and placemat made here at school, similar to the one here from our inf...ants! Today was another FUN day as we celebrate Halloween and learn through play. Our PreK children used ghosts to practiced size order. They continue to also increase their language skills as their teachers ask them open ended questions. Instead of asking Is this ghost bigger, ask why did you put X ghost at the end? Our youngest toddlers had a wonderful time playing, while also working on their pincer grasp as they created their ghosts! ... Our sweet infants worked on their hand eye coordination as they used yarn to create a fun spider web! We can’t wait to see what tomorrow will bring!

Through the generosity of the Lightbridge Foundation, our Fort Washington center was able to choose a local charity to gift $500.00. The Kelly Anne Dolan Foundation serves families in our area by providing help during difficult times. Children with illnesses need special care and consideration and this foundation serves those needs. As a childcare center, we feel an innate responsibility to help children and their families.

Happy Halloween WEEK! Here at Lightbridge Academy in Fort Washington, we will celebrate every day this week leading up to our Halloween party. Today, our children, young toddlers through Kindergarten, began their newest project, a 3D hanged house. The process is far more important that the product. ... We love that the children learn how to work in a group of friends and learn how to problem solve as they work through each bump in the road. Today kicked off a favorite theme of ours, Pumpkins! Our children in preschool made their very own pumpkin sun catchers that they were able to hang! The explored different textures and colors and developed their fine motor skill. We read one of our favorite books of all time, Spookley the Square Pumpkin and practiced counting with pumpkins! Learning in small groups is such a huge benefit that we are so happy to be able to provide our children! ... Our PreK class talked about what you find on the outside of a pumpkin and what you find on the inside of a pumpkin. Next they used a variety of materials to create the inside of a pumpkin! We are so excited to continue learning about pumpkins using fun and engaging activities. Our toddlers continued to explore today! They used their treasure maps from yesterday and went on a treasure hunt around the room using their own treasure bags. They even went through and matched a variety of sailboats based on their attributes. We have loved engaging in fun learning activities this week! A week of exploration continues to be a BLAST!

This week we learn all about explorers! Here, you see our PreK class and our toddlers creating their very own maps! In order to make the maps our teachers planned age appropriate versions of creating their maps! Our youngest toddlers freely placed their pieces where they saw fit. Our PreK class cut out their own pieces and had to follow the map directions. We can’t wait to see why they find tomorrow as they use their map to help them explore!

Our infants were so excited to jump into our theme, Fire Safety. They learned about Firefighters and pretended to be one themselves! Our FAVORITE part of the day is circle time. This week we learn all about Fire Safety. Today, our toddlers had so much fun using dotters to match the color of the fire hydrant. Everyone had so much fun counting flames and using a water bottle to spray out the fire as a class as well! ... They each had a turn to ride on their pretend red fire truck! This week our theme is, Leaves! It is only Tuesday and we have already done so much exploring, learning and having so much FUN! Check out our youngest toddlers to our oldest toddlers and the learning activities they have enjoyed. ... Our toddlers have discovered the textures of different leaves from crunchy to soft. Our Kindergarten class is ALREADY learning so much and having so much fun! Every day they have literacy, math, Art/dance, science/social studies, recess, lunch, and relax/yoga time.
