Born in Duquesne, PA (just outside Pittsburgh), pianist Earl "Fatha" Hines is truly the father of the piano in Jazz. His unique rhythmic conception took the rag...time and Harlem stride piano styles blending them with his "trumpet style" right hand creating a new voice for the piano. Listen to his seminal duet from 1928, Weather Bird, with Louis Armstrong (Okeh Records) and you will hear both Hines and Pops pointing the way for Jazz into the 1960's and beyond!
