It’s been 9 years since we lost Bill. He was like a father to me and I still miss him every single day. The antique prints I’m going to be selling to raise money for Navajo Nation Covid-19 relief and those affected by Spinal Cord injuries come from what is left of his business Old Maps & Prints. I chose these 2 causes because Bill was a Native American who suffered a spinal cord injury at the age of 19, leaving him paralyzed as a quadriplegic. He was fortunate enough to ha...ve good insurance and family that could help him live a good, relatively long life. He consistently used his voice, and money, to speak for those without the same means, fighting for the ADA, against ableism and injustice. Proceeds from the prints will be donated in his name, William A. Perry, Jr. Listings will begin tomorrow with more details about where the $$ will be donated From a previous post William A. Perry, Jr., known as Feather to his closest friends, is the inspiration behind why I chose Little Feather as my business’ name. Paralyzed in a skiing accident at the age of 19, Bill went on to accomplish amazing things despite being in a wheelchair, including becoming a licensed social worker, running his own antique maps and prints business, and writing a book. He never let his disability get in the way of living a full and happy life. He taught me how (and why) to have empathy, to nurture myself and my community, to be loving and kind, and to never give up. He was like a father to me, a true and honest friend, mentor and inspiration for living life to its fullest, despite setbacks and limitations. I love him dearly and miss him every single day. #feather #father #littlefeather #quadriplegic #smugglersnotch #skibum #inspiration @ Philadelphia, Pennsylvania
