Mary Louise Dodge, 78, of Lake Winola died at Allied Services Hospice Center, Scranton on Thursday evening March 25,2021 with her family by her side. She was born in Lake Winola on Nov. 26, 1942; daughter of the late Walter and Ruth Szerafinski. She was the beloved wife of James Dodge for 56 years. She was a graduate of Falls-Overfield High School, Bloomsburg State Teachers College and was employed as an elementary teacher at Abington Heights School District until her retir...ement in 2001. Upon retirement, she enjoyed traveling with her husband, reading, attending her covenant bible group, and time with her grandchildren. She was a member of the Tunkhannock United Methodist Church. Surviving is, her husband, James Dodge, son James Dodge and his wife Andira of Orangeville, daughter Amy Walsh and her husband John of Dalton. Her grandchildren John Jr., Ben, Gina, and Jessica, sister Lara Shader of Elizabethtown. She was preceded in death by her sister Gloria Eastwood. Funeral Service will be Monday at 11am from Harding-Litwin Funeral Home 123 W. Tioga St. Tunkhannock with Pastor Jon Buxton of the Tunkhannock United Methodist Church presiding. Edward Laytos Sr. passed away Monday March 15, 2021 at his home after bravely battling many health issues over the past several years. Born in Scranton on June 9th, 1938, he was the son of the late Peter Laytos and Sophie Lubeck. He was married to the former Marilyn Morris. In addition to his parents Edward is preceded in death by his sister Nancy Laytos. He is survived by their 3 children, Jacki Laytos O'Leary and husband Mike of Lake Meade, PA, Cindy Laytos Wildrick and hu...sband Rich of Sweet Valley, PA and Edward Laytos Jr and wife Jackie of Factoryville, PA along with 7 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren. He was an employee of Chamberlin Manufacturing of Scranton for many years before his retirement. Ed was an avid outdoorsman who loved to hunt and fish. He will be dearly missed by family and his many loyal friends who often called on him on the mountain for a game of cards or colorful conversations. The family would like to thank the many caregivers who helped him and kept him comfortable over the past few years. Arthur William Gable, 86, of Tunkhannock passed away at the Residential Hospice Wilkes-Barre, on Mar. 12, 2021. He was born in Tunkhannock on Nov. 27, 1934 and he was the son the of late Albert and Margaret Law Gable. He was married to the former Frances Jacques for 63 years. Arthur was a graduate of the Tunkhannock High School and he worked at P&G for 25 years. He enjoyed beekeeping, wood working, hunting, fishing, traveling, and gardening. Matthew Carl Schur, 45, of Dalton died at Regional Hospital of Scranton on March 9, 2021. Born in Dover Delaware on Sept. 16, 1975; the son of Daniel Schur of Dover, DE and Teresa and Scott Singley of Lititz, PA. Matt grew up in Delaware and was an athlete throughout high school. He was a talented tennis player and soccer goalie. Matt received his bachelor’s degree in Agriculture and Soil Science from the University of Delaware. He went on to be a Fresh produce broker servin...g the Northeastern Pennsylvania to Delaware communities. He met his best friend and wife Melanie Mroz in Philadelphia in 1997. They were married on Jan. 8, 2000 in Hatboro, PA. He enjoyed gardening, snowboarding, and music especially listening to his vinyl record collection. Most importantly he loved his family. His favorite thing to do was just being at home with them and their occasional vacations to the beach. He was preceded in death by his maternal grandmother Grace Sipple in 2020 and his uncle Michael Sipple in 2015. Surviving beside his parents and wife, are his 3 children. Son Ryan Schur serving our country in the Navy, daughter Samantha Schur attending Penn State University, and son Gregg Schur currently attending LTHS and will be attending Scranton Prep in the Fall 2021. He is also survived by his grandfather, John Sipple, Uncle Jack Sipple and his wife Terry of Dover, DE Private Graveside Service at Shoemaker Cemetery, Dalton with the Rev. Randy Lee "Sparky" Stark, 68 from Noxen gained his wings on Thursday, February 4th at General Hospital in Wilkes Barre, PA, after a brief illness. Born December 15, 1952 in Carbondale, PA to the late Evelyn and Lee Stark. He is survived by his wife and love of his life Ann Marie Yurksza Stark. They celebrated their 33rd wedding anniversary on November 15, 2020. Sparky was a graduate of Tunkhannock High School class of 70, during Sparky's high school years he was an outstand...ing basketball player. Sparky served in the US Air Force at Offutt Air Force Base in Omaha, Nebraska. After leaving the Air Force he moved to Aiken, South Carolina, moving back to the Tunkhannock area in the late 70's. He met Ann Marie in 1981 and they moved to Columbia, South Carolina, residing there for eighteen years before moving back to Northeastern, Pa. Sparky had many talents, working for McKohn printing and Hilton Service in South Carolina. Joining Brown's Tree Service after returning to the local area. Sparky was a diehard Gamecock and Steelers fan. Enjoyed watching sports of all kinds, his biggest joy was watching court shows and CNN with feline buddies, Mac and Cheeze by his side. He enjoyed painting humorous images on rocks for friends and family long before it became fashionable. He was a natural storyteller and enjoyed recalling exploits with friends and opining on recent topics. Whenever Sparky and friends got together uproarious laughter would ensue. Sparky was a member of Moose Lodge 1276 and the American Legion Post #0967. One of his favorite times was enjoying friends and family during the annual Rattlesnake Roundup and firepit Fridays and Saturdays with neighbors. Surviving in addition to Sparky's wife is his daughter Brandy Banaszek, husband Joe and grandchildren Joey and Arianna of Hampton, Va. His son Travis Crain wife Stephanie and grandson Trevor of Warrenville, SC Funeral services will be held Wednesday Feb. 10th at 5pm at the Harding-Litwin Funeral Home 123 W. Tioga St. Tunkhannock, Pa. with Pastor John Shaffer assisted by Lori Robinson officiating. A viewing will be held from 3-5pm at the funeral home. Edward Joseph Smith, 72, of Springville passed away at his home on Nov. 20, 2020. He was born in Elmont, N.Y. on Feb. 7, 1948 and he was the son of the late Joseph and Rose Dowdell Smith. Ed married the former Karen Catherine Comiskey on June 27, 1981. Ed was a graduate of Jamaica High School, and was the owner of the All American Pest Control in Ronkonkoma, N.Y. Ed couldn't wait to leave Long Island to move up to the family property. He and his wife made their lives on the... Rocky Pine Ranch for the past 26 years. Anywhere he went, he usually met someone that he knew, and on those rare occasions that he didn't know someone, he quickly made them his new friends. He was a big fan of 50s and 60s doo-wop and rock and roll, taking every opportunity to stop and dance- even if it was in the middle of a store. Ed was the president of Hi-Lites Motor Club and past vice president of Still Cruisin' Car Club on Long Island. He was a car collector and always had a garage full of cars, including his current prize, his 1954 Ford. He never met an animal he didn't like, and was probably greeted by his faithful four legged companions: Buck, Dusty, Brew, Crystal, Desperado, and Midnight, who will all be looking for a cookie. Ed was a greaser, a cowboy, a putter-er, a gear head,and a gentleman who always had a lollipop in his pocket and will be missed by everyone who knew him. In addition to his parents, Ed is preceded in death by a son David who passed away in 2019. In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children Carolyn Smith and husband Mike of Springville and Colleen McAleer and husband Scott of Auburn Center; sisters Rose Amereno of Farmingdale, NY, Mary LaManna and husband Donald of Florida; mother in law Ruthie Comiskey of Tunkhannock; brothers in law Steve Comiskey and wife Sally of Washington, DC, Patrick Comiskey and wife Anne of Gilbert, Arizona; grandchildren Vanessa Smith, and Catherine and Joseph McAleer, and many nieces and nephews. A graveside service will be held at Ed's residence on Nov. 29th at 3 p.m. with Rev. Lou Divis officiating. A viewing will be held from 12 until 2 p.m. at the Harding-Litwin Funeral Home 123 W.
