#Children Update# Good news! James, who we support, got admitted to Zhongshan University for a master program! John, Jordan, and Susan have graduated from college this June. 19 students took the college admission examination this July, and four of them have been admitted to the first and second tier universities! Among them, David got admitted to Shanghai Jiaotong University majoring in Physical Astronomy (Top 5 Universities in China)! Another 15 students are still waiting ...for their college admissions; 18 students will begin their high school or vocational high school this fall. None of them would have made it this far without our sponsors' love and continued support! We sincerely wish them all the best in their new chapter of life! # Meet Living Hope Children # Tyler At one time, Tyler lived with his mother, father and older sister in a very poor village in Northern China. His family suffered a tragedy when a huge storm destroyed their home one day. This left Tyler’s mother emotionally scarred and she began to act completely irrationally. She had to be medicated and kept under constant care. Eventually, Tyler’s father could no longer handle this tremendous pressure and commit suicide by drinking poison.... By the time doctors arrived, it was too late. From that point on, Tyler’s grandmother took both of the children in and became the main supporter of the family. She went to the fields all day long in order to feed the children. In the meanwhile, she had to lock the children in the mud house alone until she returned. Tyler was taken cared of by his sister, Emma, who was just a little girl herself! They lived like this for several years until we learned about their situation. Emma came to Living Hope in 2010,then Tyler in 2012. Tyler is adorable and everyone likes to look after him. He is very intelligent, sensitive and honest. Now, he is 13 years old, a middle school student already. His dream is to be an astronaut in the future and studies very hard for it! You are sincerely invited to join us to sponsor Tyler! By donating $30 per month, we are able to support him to finish school, and make his dream come true! # Meet Living Hope Children # Elizabeth Elizabeth grew up in a small village in rural China. In 2012, when Elizabeth was only 4, her mother left home and never returned. Her father died in an accident in February of 2014. After that, Elizabeth moved in with her impoverished uncle. Living Hope brought her into our Angel Training Center in order to give her a better living condition and an opportunity to go to school. ... Elizabeth was the youngest children in the Training Center at that time and adored by all. She is funny and loves to wear her hair in crazy styles! Her language skills are quite good. She can take care of herself well, from washing to dressing. At bedtime, she likes to hear bedtime stories. She is obedient (usually) and very kind to others. She makes friends easily and loves to play with them. When she is alone, she likes reading and drawing, and drawing is her favorite activity besides dancing. Now she began to learn dulcimer. Time passed so quickly, now Elizabeth is 12 years old, in 6th grade. She still loves painting; laughs a lot; reading and dreaming a wonderful future! Elizabeth is very independent and capable. We are excited to watch her blossom and grow! You are sincerely invited to join us to sponsor Elizabeth! By donating $30 per month, we are able to bring Elizabeth from hopelessness to happiness, and make her dream come true! Second Update: Thank you so much for your support and love to our children! We just received good news from our china team and can't wait to share it with you all... 19 Living Hope children took the High School Entrance Examination this June and will start their high school this Fall! We are so excited for these children and bought each student a table light and an umbrella for their new school year. 18 Living Hope older children took their College Entrance Examination on July 7th and July 8th, known in Chinese as the "Gao Kao" which is the most important examination for all Chinese students! Our staff prepared a suitcase and a power bank charger for each student. Although children are not able to live in Living Hope's training center due to Covid-19, and are living with their relatives instead, they meet online with Living Hope teachers and staff each day for tutoring, sharing and support! Having a laptop and internet sounds like standard equipment for many families here in US, but is huge for families who are struggling with food and basic needs in China in the pandemic. Living Hope's goal is to provide the necessary equipment and support to ensure every student is able to continue learning online in this challenging time. To make a donation, please go to our website www.livinghopeintl.org or the Gofundme fundraiser page https://www.gofundme.com/f/help-children-in-china-in-covid19 Your generosity and love are much appreciated! first update on July 16,2020: Thank you very much for your generosity and support for our children in China! Living Hope China team recently visited 108 children and their families who live in rural villages. We delivered rice and flour which is getting more pricey during the coronavirus pandemic to these families' front doors. By keeping social distance, we couldn't give them hugs, but we shared love and grace when we looked at each other! They were very grateful for our hel...p especially in this difficult time. Children were cheerful and laughing! Covid-19 stopped our physical contact, but our mission and support never stopped!
