The YWCA is re-launching their YES! Empowerment Series for women . There are a total of six sessions on select Wednesday evenings through November 18th. The whole series is free of charge and will cover important career skills like communications, executive presence, managing stress, and handling transitions. The kick-off workshop is this Wednesday., Sept. 16th. There is a tab for the YES! Empowerment Series at the YWCA’s homepage ( www.ywcabethlehem.org) . Online RSVP is required to receive the link.

Dementia it is one of the most difficult things in life to see happen before your eyes. My Abuelita had dementia in the later part of her life and it was heart breaking ! The 1960's called it "hardening of the arteries of the brain", then it was called Alzheimer’s. Today the word "dementia" is more in vogue. Fact is that people have had memory loss with age for centuries - Benjamin Franklin had it! Someone once said that when you love someone with dementia you lose them twic...e, once when they are diagnosed and then when they die This is called Ambiguous Loss. 'Rapidly shrinking brain’ is how doctors now describe it. I wouldn't wish Dementia on anyone. As the patient's brain slowly dies, they change physically and eventually forget who their loved ones are. Patients can eventually become bedridden, unable to move and unable to eat or drink. There will be people who will scroll by this message because dementia has not touched them.
