Tuesday March 17, 2020 Friends, Following the advice of the President of the United States, the Governor of the State of Pennsylvania and the Center for Disease Control, our Session has canceled all activities in the Lower Marsh Creek Presbyterian Church until March 30, 2020. There will be no public worship services in our building on Sundays, March 22 or 29. The Session will be closely following the events surrounding this National Emergency and will reevaluate this decision... in the coming weeks. Given the current situation, there is an expectation that this quarantine will need to be continued beyond March 30. We seek to maintain our buildings as a disease-free, and virus-free zone. Please do not visit or enter our buildings unless absolutely necessary. Our office manager, Barb, and I will be working on our regular schedule from the Church office. We will seek to maintain deep personal, pastoral and spiritual relationships across our congregation using email and telephone. Obviously, this situation is unprecedented and very stressful. We are particularly concerned about our older friends and loved ones for whom this virus is especially dangerous. Through it all we are the Church. Our hope is lasting, our faith in eternal and we will continue to trust in our Holy and Eternal God, the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ. Grace and Peace! Mark

There are 11 tickets available for "Smoke on the Mountain". Surely it will be a great time! The show is at Totem Pole Playhouse on Saturday, June 29th. The show tells the story of a Saturday Night Gospel Sing at a country church in North Carolina’s Smoky Mountains in 1938. Starring Totem Pole veteran, Robbie Limon, the show features 24 rousing bluegrass songs played and sung by the Sanders Family, a traveling group making its return to performing after a five year hiatus. Pastor Oglethorpe, the young enthusiastic minister of Mount Pleasant Baptist Church, has enlisted the Sanders family in his efforts to bring his tiny congregation into the modern world. Showtime is 8:00 PM. Please let contact the office!

Sunday April 28, 2019: Second Sunday of Easter. Acts 5:27-32 Prayer for the Day:... God of the Resurrection, you open the tomb and invite us to sing and dance in the new life you give us. In Jesus Christ, whose wounds are not erased but glorified in resurrection, touch our wounds that they may be transformed into channels of healing for others. Holy Spirit, breathe into us the power to forgive so that all may have new life. In the name of Jesus we pray. Amen. NOTES: 1: Join us for our National Day of Prayer service on Thursday May 2 at 8:00 A.M. in our Fellowship Hall. A light breakfast will be served. 2: Thank You! Our One Great Hour of Sharing offering totaled more than $2,000. This special offering in the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) supports three important ministries: the Self-Development of Peoples, the Presbyterian Disaster Assistance and the Hunger Program. 3: This Sunday we will highlight the ministry of Camp Krislund, a comprehensive conference center and camp which is owned by the Presbytery of Carlisle. Check out Krislund.org. 4: In anticipation of Mother's Day, we will give thanks for all our women (and our men also) on Sunday, May 5 with special coffee and fellowship times after both worship services.

Sunday March 24, 2019 The Third Sunday of Lent The Sacrament of Baptism Luke 13: 1-9... The Parable of the Barren Fig Tree "At that very time there were some present who told him about the Galileans whose blood Pilate had mingled with their sacrifices. He asked them, ‘Do you think that because these Galileans suffered in this way they were worse sinners than all other Galileans? No, I tell you; but unless you repent, you will all perish as they did. Or those eighteen who were killed when the tower of Siloam fell on themdo you think that they were worse offenders than all the others living in Jerusalem? No, I tell you; but unless you repent, you will all perish just as they did.’ Then he told this parable: ‘A man had a fig tree planted in his vineyard; and he came looking for fruit on it and found none. So he said to the gardener, See here! For three years I have come looking for fruit on this fig tree, and still I find none. Cut it down! Why should it be wasting the soil? He replied, Sir, let it alone for one more year, until I dig round it and put manure on it. If it bears fruit next year, well and good; but if not, you can cut it down. ’ Prayer: Holy God, Your glory and power, surround us in the sanctuary. We lift up our hands and call on your name. We are your people, thirsty for the living water you alone can give. When we consider how you have helped us, giving us a spring that gushes up to eternal life, we cling to you, singing praises with joyful lips; through Jesus Christ, our Lord. Amen
