Who needs a new string?

Is it time to change your bow string? I get asked this question often! There isn't a right or wrong answer when your string needs changed. Every situation is different. If you have a 1990's compound that hasn't been shot in 20 years, I'm going to say its probably time to have them changed! I have many archers tell me their string is 10 years old and in great shape. Even though the appearance looks good, does not mean the string is in good condition. I see this scen...ario quite often. Someone brings a bow in and thinks their string is still in good condition. Only to find out that the string and cables stretched close to a 1/2 inch. This in returns make their draw length to long and their bow out of tune.
