This video says so much about the selflessness and love that dogs share with us.

Dogs truly are members of the family, and when they are no longer with us, like our friend Howe Comfort Dog, they leave holes in our hearts.

Thanks for sharing: Debbie Leydet Rhodes Jacob Marley(nee Barry)..Adopted in Dec 2000 when I was as alone in the world as one can get. He saw me through nearly 16 years of ups and downs. When I took him to the vet with my neuter certificate he gave him a check up and then told me Jacob had thumbs but on the front paws rather than the back. I asked if that would pose any issues and his reply..Only thing is he may be able to open the refrigerator.. Ha. ... Taken to his cat heaven while in my lap Dec. 5 2015.

Submitted by Greg Pipilo: Thank you for sharing, but thank you much more for giving Dixie the best home that a dog could want ____ It is with deep sorrow and regret that I post my final update on Dixie. My wife and I adopted her in January of 2015, shortly thereafter I injured my back. This was possibly the toughest time of my life and I got through it because of the love and affection she gave. ... Since then she has been an amazing dog, incredibly smart, funny, and a personality all her own. In the mornings I didn't work, at 8:30 she would sneeze and huff to get our attention and if that didn't work a solitary bark to get us out of bed. She was sweet and affectionate, I feel very strongly that we gave her the best year of her life this past year. She had 3 beds, a hand made blanket, best foods, and the best vet. Comfort can be taken in that the two of us laid down for a nap today in the living room, but only I woke up. So she passed away in her sleep without a yelp or anything. At least it was peaceful and painless. I can't thank the BCHS enough for providing us with the best companion we ever could have asked for. When we are able to move on, we will give another lost dog a good home.

Jade was a 9 year old Pit Bull Terrier Mix that arrived at the shelter back in August 2015. She was found as a stray in Bear Run Campground but only spent 2 days at the shelter before she had to be rushed to a veterinarian. After numerous tests and an x ray, she went into emergency surgery. Her colon had twisted and had filled with gas. Her colon and intestines were repaired but her prognosis was guarded. She had severe infection from parasites and worms and needed a special ...diet to help with her digestion. Even after everything that she has been through, with a lot of love and medical attention, Jade was more than willing to show her appreciation to everyone that cared for her. Loved by all of the staff and volunteers, she lived her life as a social butterfly with everyone that came in contact with her. Her time the Butler County Humane Society was filled with tons of play time, walks, friends and hugs. The staff and volunteers of the BCHS will forever have a special place for Jade in their hearts.

Submitted by: Jeff Leinbach, great volunteer at BCHS. This is Quipu (kee-poo) aka Miss Fuzzybutt. I found her at a chemical plant in Texas and we spent 14-1/2 great years together. She was a feral kitten who never got used to other people, but she was great with me. I love her and miss her a lot.
