We hope everyone is staying safe & healthy! We are currently in our 10th week of working remotely here at Lotus Environmental Consulting, after closing our offices on March 12, 2020. We wanted to update you on different safety protocols and how we’ve been adjusting to working from home. After having our COVID-19 safety plan approved by both PennDOT and the Turnpike, on May 1, 2020, fieldwork was reinstated for various Lotus projects. Lotus takes the health and safety of our s...taff and the general public very seriously, so we’ve instated safety protocols for fieldwork and office usage, following the CDC, OSHA, and PA Dept. of Health guidelines, and will continue to work from home to serve our clients and their projects. Read more and view our protocols on our website www.lotusenvironmental.com Check out a few photos of our recent fieldwork, our home offices/companions, and hobbies we’ve picked up while working from home! Happy Earth Day! Today marks the 50th #anniversary of the birth of the modern #environmental movement. Earth Day was started in 1970, to help raise public awareness and concern for the environment and its living organisms, and the links between pollution and public health. Senator Gaylord Nelson, a junior senator from Wisconsin, was influenced by major oil spills and the student anti-war movement, and announced the idea to Congressman Pete McCloskey, recruited Activist De...nis Hayes, and organized the event for April 22. After seeing the potential to impact all Americans, Hayes assembled a national team of 85 to host events and marches throughout the country. By the end of 1970, the first Earth Day had led to the creation of the United States Environmental Protection Agency and the passage of various environmental laws, including the National Environmental Education Act, the Occupational Safety and Health Act, and the Clean Air Act. Congress passed the Clean Water Act and the Endangered Species Act in the years that followed. These laws have protected millions of people from disease and have protected hundreds of species from extinction. Earth Day is celebrated each year on April 22, and on this Earth Day, let's work together to build a better future for us all 50 years later, we honor that history and keep pushing for #climateactionnow here are a few photos of some of our #favorite project sites. #earthday2020 #climateaction #earthrise #lotus #consulting #wbe #sbe #loveyourplanet #conservation #earthday @ Pennsylvania
