The Rosedale Manor Drainage Improvement Project (affecting Market Street Extended, Mountain View Rd, Brentwood Dr, Lexington Ave and Hanover St) is now largely complete with its installation of new storm sewer and is moving into the next phase of construction, which will focus on curb replacement, new ADA sidewalk ramps, driveway apron repairs and any necessary sidewalk repairs. Curb will be formed through a slipform process (https://nefoundationandconcrete.com/concrete-slipf...orm-serv/), where the old curb will be cleared, string lines for guides will be installed, and then up to 1,000 ft of curb will be poured a day. Slipforming is a common practice for curb installation and allows for fast and effective installation of long stretches of curb. Because of the speed of installation, demolition and preparation will have to work ahead of the slipforming crew, so we expect disruption to long stretches of road through this process. Met-Ed External Affairs has let us know in approximately two to five days, weather permitting, Chesapeake Bay Helicopters (CBH) will be mobilizing to the Met-Ed region and will begin performing UV/IR patrols on all Met-Ed 230kV transmission lines. The helicopter to be used for these patrols will be a black and silver, Hughes MD500 with tail registration number N774CB photo below. These patrols are estimated to take three to four days to complete, but again, any inclement we...ather or storm/outage-related patrols on other lines may prolong completion. A UV/IR patrol is like a routine patrol in terms of patrol speed (25-35 mph) but utilizes an infrared and corona camera that’s mounted on the bottom of the helicopter. The onboard thermographer uses these cameras to view the transmission line conductor and hardware through the infrared and ultraviolet spectrums to identify any sources of corona activity or overheated components. It should be noted that the contractor has been authorized to patrol the transmission circuits in their entirety (i.e. "breaker-to-breaker"), so patrols on certain lines may therefore extend into the neighboring regions. The flight crew provides information on their daily location to both Transmission Lines Maintenance and FE East Transmission Operations, and the pilot will be in communication with any local airports when in their airspace.

Waste Industries/GFL Customers: Curbside Christmas tree collection is scheduled for January 7 OR January 8 (the day of your normal collection).

The Lower Swatara Township Municipal Building is closed today due to the snow emergency. The Police Department and Public Works employees are working. Please be safe everyone!

Waste Industries/GFL Customers: Trash and recycling collection will be collected as normal on Thursday, December 31 (New Year’s Eve). Since Friday (New Year’s Day) is a holiday for the hauler, collection for Friday customers will be delayed by one day (Saturday).

NOTICE REGARDING TRASH/RECYCLING COLLECTION: Due to the inclement weather, GFL has advised us that they will be closed on Thursday, December 17 and resume operations on Friday, December 18. They will be running on a holiday schedule, meaning usual collection will be delayed by one day.

NOTICE: Exelon will test all 96 sirens for Three Mile Island located within the 10 mile emergency planning zone. The test will be on Thursday, December 3rd at 12:15 P.M. This will be the final siren test. During the test all 96 sirens will sound for a full 3 minutes. Please remember that the siren system is an OUTDOOR warning system and not designed for in building coverage.
