We know many are anxious and have questions about the COVID-19 Vaccines and when it will be available. The PA Department of Health has a Phased Timeline of how they plan to distribute when it becomes available. We will provide more and updated information as it is released. The phases of vaccine distribution are below and here is a link to all of the FAQ's from the PA DOH website: https://www.health.pa.gov///coronavirus/Pages/Vaccine.aspx Who will receive the vaccine first ...in Pennsylvania once it is available? The department will work to get the vaccine out to Pennsylvanians in three phases, following the CDC guidelines regarding supply, demand and risk of the vaccine. Phase 1: There may be limited supply of COVID-19 vaccine doses available in the first phase. Initial efforts will focus on reaching the following populations: Healthcare personnel; Emergency Medical Services first responders; and Residents and staff of congregate care settings. Phase 2: We anticipate a large number of vaccine doses available. Efforts will focus on ensuring access to vaccine for: Phase 1 critical populations who were not yet vaccinated; and General population. Phase 3: In this phase, there should be a sufficient supply of vaccine doses for entire population. Efforts will focus on ensuring the entire population will have access to the vaccine.

Vaccines and how they work! COVID-19 mRNA vaccines teach our cells how to make a piece of a protein to trigger an immune response and build immunity to the virus that causes COVID-19. mRNA does not affect or interact with a person’s DNA, and the cell breaks down and gets rid of the mRNA as soon as it is finished using these instructions. Learn about mRNA vaccines and how they work: https://bit.ly/39KeCPK.

How does this COVID Alert App work? The app detects if users are in close contact with another app user, using Bluetooth technology. It is the same technology that your phone uses to connect to wireless headphones or your car. The app does not use GPS, location services or geographical information. You will get an alert on your app, if you have been near another app user who tests positive.... The app will never collect, transmit, or store your personal information and is completely anonymous. It will alert you that you were near someone who tests positive that also has the app. The app does not disclose who or where you may have been in contact with them, to protect their privacy. Download and sign up today. Click on the link to see what other states are also using the app, so if you visit them your app can alert you of exposure in those places too!
