The Lower Valley Community Food Bank will hold their first January Distribution on Thursday January 14 from 1pm to 3 pm from the rear entrance of the Springdale Borough Building. Anyone in need of food assistance in our geographic area (which is Springdale Borough and Township, Cheswick, Harmar, any parts of Indiana and West Deer Townships with a 15024 Zip Code) is welcome. You can register that day if you haven't previously. Because of traffic concerns we ask no one arrive before 12:45. Please enter onto Walnut St, on the side of the borough building, from James St.

Yesterday was the Lower Valley Community Food Bank's Christmas Distribution. This is our largest event of the year and the snow added one more hurtles for us to overcome. There were close to 40 cars waiting at 1pm when we opened and we ended up serving over 160 families in the two hours. So THANK YOU TO: The borough workers who showed up like a wave of locusts and had the sidewalks cleaned and salted in about 15 minutes. The Springdale police who started the shoveling and st...uck around to help with traffic and distribution. The Springdale High School students who came to volunteer and were invaluable in making the operation run smoothly. And last but not least the amazing volunteers who show up for every distribution and do whatever needs to done. Many of these wonderful people were there Wednesday and Thursday giving their time and talents. Santa Claus was there too and he knows who these "nice" folks are. See more

Let the Christmas spirit ring with joy! We would like to thank Racers for Tots for doing their part in ensuring EVERY child receives a Christmas present this year. Racers for Tots spends every year raising money to purchase toys for children across western Pennsylvania so that no child is without a smile during the holiday season. They just filled our storage area with a donation of toys for all of our kids. We are so grateful and it’s a true blessing to be the beneficiary of the Racers for Tots cause. Merry Christmas!

The Lower Valley Community Food Bank will hold a food distribution next Thursday September 10 from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM at the Springdale Borough Building. Anyone in need of food assistance is welcome whether they have registered previously or not. Please line up in your vehicles on the left side of Walnut St, facing School St, along side the borough building. We ask all clients to remain in their cars for their safety and ours. For traffic safety reasons, please do not arrive before 12:45. Thank you.

Santa has had plenty of helpers this year! We want to give a special thank you to the elves at Curtiss-Wright and Allegheny Valley School District for filling cars and trucks with loads of gifts for our families. This year has been more challenging than most and it is such a wonderful feeling to know the giving spirit of our community is alive and well. The Lower Valley Community Food Bank will hold their first August distribution this Thursday August 13 from 1 to 3 pm. The event will be at the Springdale Borough Building and again be a drive up distribution. All are welcome. We can register you at that time if necessary.

The Pittsburgh Food Bank will hold a food distribution event on Tuesday August 11 at the Pittsburgh Mills Mall from 5 to 7 pm. Please see details below.
