Our gallery artist for February First Friday is Kiersten Block, a Lycoming College student earning her BA in fine arts with a teaching certification. Kiersten's goals include expanding upon her ability to utilize mediums, adding to her artistic repertoire, and creating her own personal pottery studio. "The meaning of my work is to dive deeper into my perception of reality, phenomena, and social norms. I would like to give my comments on aspects such as the standard norm of be...auty and how the imperfections add to the intricacies. Mathematical sequences and patterns such as the Fibonacci sequence are riddled throughout what we see in our lives and are an inspiration to my artistic domain. Geometric patterns and shapes are a focal point of my series because of how versatile and simplistic they can be. Although my art may be drastically different in subject, the connection between them is me. This series is a physical manifestation of how I view the world." See more
