More truth than fiction.
Grow old, not up?
We mourn the death of Dominic, the son of former MACC student Andre Jefferson. May his infant soul rest in peace and may Andrè and his wife find solace.
Students, friends, associates and family of the late saxophonist and educator, TOMMY GRICE: Please hold the date for our Tribute to Tommy Grice. The Mt Airy Cultural Center will host this event in celebration of the life of our colleague and friend, on Sunday, March 18, 2018 from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM at LaRose Jazz Club in Philadelphia, Pa. A donation of $25.00 will provide admission and dinner, and provide a stipend to the house band. Bring your talent to share. Club LaRose is located at 5531 Germantown Avenue, Philadelphia, Pa. Parking is available in the rear of the club, entrance on Armat St.
Devastated that I’ll not be able to attend.
On the passing of a giant. Thomas Grice, MACC mainstay. Sometimes Social Media conveys good news. At other times it brings news you’ve anticipated but are not yet ready to accept. No words can render my feelings about your passing. You, Tommy, were a giant of a man, a mentor, educator, musician, deacon in your church and all-around good human being. Rest In Peace dear friend. May light perpetual shine upon you. ... Your own light will not soon be dimmed because, through your efforts, you lit the candle in so many of your students and associates, resulting in your light being multiplied. Amen, for a life well lived. Wes Norton, BOD.
Since we are not currently functioning as a teaching and performance venue, to stay close to our educational and promotional roots, I thought we’d post this offer by the Obamas. https://news.artnet.com//obama-foundation-fellowship-10958
Gotta share our association with this young man, in his development, the fact that he sent some of his students to us, and our support of his/our students through scholarship awards. Kudos to Jamal P. Dickerson of Camden NJ. https://www.facebook.com/NewJerseyEducationAssociation/videos/10153836206953422/
