At MacGuffin, we are equally committed to growing and evolving as educators and theatre makers as we are to growing actorsin this moment that means recognizing and renewing our responsibility in the fight for racial justice, and acknowledging that we have a lot of work to do. This ongoing endeavor means listening, learning, redefining how best to serve our community, and exposing our students and ourselves to plays and theatre that tell stories created by and giving voice to... the Black community. Theatre is a way for people to process challenging and difficult moments. We are in a unique position with you, our theatre community. As amalgamations of teachers, mentors, and role models, our doors have always been open for students to voice and explore their emotions. We have never shied away from having difficult conversations as they arise on and offstage, and will continue to meet those moments with open minds, ears, and hearts. We’re holding space for these conversations and hope that you will hold us accountable. To the Black members of our community past, present, and future: you are seen, you are heard, and you are valued. Your lives matter. Black Lives Matter. Programming this weektoday’s #WeGrowActorsWednesday interview and Saturday’s June Open Mic Nightis postponed, but we’re still here: we’re working, we’re processing; so, reach out if you need us and we’ll be back online next week. Throwing all the back to the spring when we produced our first ever virtual play (Shakespeare no less ) It’s been a little over six months since MacGuffin along with much of the rest of the world went virtual. During this time we have produced a number of both digital and virtual performances, hosted many virtual events, held six virtual summer programs, and taught over 20 virtual classes! We have learned a ton during this time (and are still learning)! Regardless o...f whether we’re on the second floor with the purple door or in our living rooms, one thing will never change: at MacGuffin #WeGrowActors
