According to AccuWeather and the National Weather Service, three winter storm systems will be impacting our region over a 48 hour time frame. Sunday, WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY: 7 AM - 7 PM; 2-4" of snow. Monday, 2 PM - 6 PM; little to no accumulation.... Tuesday, 4 AM - 7 AM; 1" of snow (or less). The plan is to start at 7 pm (or earlier) Sunday and work overnight. I'll salt/ ice melt heavily in hopes that it will be enough to negate the smaller systems. Back in December 2020, a winter storm dumped 9" + of snow on us; it took me 12 hours to clear and treat 11 properties. If this storm tapers off and the roads are drivable, I will start the snow removal process at 1 pm on Monday and all properties should be completed by 1 am Tuesday. I will be operating a snow blower. If you are at the bottom of the schedule and do not want a snow blower operating on your property at midnight or 1 am, let me know so I can reschedule you for Tuesday afternoon (I do not recommend this). Not much has changed. We are in the 1-2" accumulation zone. Just south of us (including the southernmost tip of Allegheny Co.) is the 3-4" zone. Snow is expected to taper off by 1 am. The plan is to start at Shorty's at 2 am and get a good head start on the morning rush hour(s). No pretreat service is scheduled since the snow storm is starting later than originally forecasted. The National Weather Service has issued a snow storm alert for our region valid Thursday (1/6) 2 pm - Friday (1/7) 7 am. Early snowfall accumulation probabilities have our region in the 2'-3" range. More snowfall is expected south of I-70, less north of I-80 (for a change). For all intents and purposes, today concluded the longest mowing season ever (263 days). A record breaking 1,329 lawns were serviced in 2021. That's 263 better than the previous best season (2019). A very unseasonably wet and warm (October was the 6th warmest October on record) autumn forced fall landscaping jobs into the winter months. As long as day temperatures are above freezing and it's dry, I will continue to work on these landscaping jobs.
