Drawing from the iconic hub and spoke windows of our library. I carved out the new graphic that will grace their website and correspondence.

A recent ad project for Yuengling’s Ice Cream I’d been privileged to design.

As a student and a fan of designs for classic advertising (brand) icons, both in television commercial and packaging or print, I summoned the creative energy of the masters as I worked out a couple of characters for a local chocolate and confections company, The Sweet Barista. The characters shown here represent the staple products of The Sweet Barista and their top sellers; the peanut roll, and Yuengling Lager beer bread (full size and mini). As shown, Teresa, the proprietor is seen holding her banner in front of her table at the Yuengling Light Lager Jogger 5K event and is flanked by her new "spokespeople"! (She also has a store in the village of New Philadelphia, PA)

That day, 4 years ago when I was just another character in the So Cal backdrop!

Actor and Producer Rick Singer played the part of "Benny" in the cult classic produced by legendary animator Ralph Bakshi in 1981. Benny met his fate (as shown in photo #1) at the hands of a German soldier while sitting at a piano in an abandoned house, playing the tune, "As Time Goes By" from the film Casablanca. I humored Mr. Singer with a fantasy / alternate take of what might have been if Benny had gone on to continue on his path as a pianist and entertainer. I imagined Benny through age progression in to the 70's making his debut at Carnegie Hall. Taking a current photograph of Mr. Singer, I "rotoscoped" him (cartooned him) and placed him onstage at Carnegie Hall.

Bring your blanket, your lawn chairs, a cooler with your favorite beverage (alcohol or soft drinks) and enjoy some excellent musical entertainment and a bar-b-q experience from the roaster of "Here Piggy, Piggy" by Chef Bill Shugars! The concerts are free! So I'll see you all there, right?

So in a last-ditch effort to sport a trendy beard/mustache combo, I'm willing to give THIS a shot!

Posting this version because it's a cleaner copy than the picture in the original post.

Is your company logo or signage 100% readable at a quick glance? If your answer to the question was yes without second guessing yourself, you're good. Otherwise, consider an overhaul. The following is an example of what I'm referring to. While you're able to read the top example while staring at it, imagine running by it quickly and glancing. ... The image, when enlarged to poster size became pixelated and the drop shadows all over added to the confusion. Too much going on! Think you could make out the script. I know I couldn't, so that is why I approached this client with a proposal. The result is seen in the lower half of the picture. If you are ready for a changing of the brand identification, employ my imagination. You will not be disappointed!
