I know we've been kind of quiet this week, but that's because we are up to our eyeballs in hams, standing rib roasts, and tenderloins and since those were all o...rdered ahead of time, we don't really have to shout from the rooftops to let everyone know that we have meat for sale at our meat shop. Now that we are in the home stretch of that initiative, I suppose we *should* put it out there that we do, in fact, have meat for sale at our meat shops. We got a nice little lamb from Elysian Fields yesterday, which came on the heels (hooves?) of a really pretty beef from The Keyes Farm just down the road toward Lone Pine. And if all goes according to plan, Drew will be bringing us a pair of Ross Farm pigs later this morning/early afternoon. Additionally, check out these hot little gift boxes Leah, Maiden, and Kristen put together yesterday! Do you have someone in your life who is a grilling enthusiast? This is a super easy gift idea for just that sort of person. There's almost zero work to do you on your part. You don't even have to wrap this because I spent so much money to get shiny black boxes. And inside? Sexy red tissue paper. Is this just a box full of tissue paper? No sir! In addition to tissue paper, there are a trio of dry-rubs, a duo of hot sauces, and 3 single entries of our famous fruit salami, Leah's delicious candied nuts, and either a bottle or Makripodis vinegar OR a jar of Brochachos Salsa. Now, both of those products are really good, and this is probably a gift for someone else, right? So let's just leave it up to fate whether they get salsa or vinegar so everyone isn't digging through the boxes trying to get the one they think the person would prefer. It adds a little excitement to life. A hint of the unknown, but not in a dangerous sort of way, you know? Oh, also... there's a $25 gift card for Heritage Craft Butchers. I hear that place has the most attractive and intelligent customers. These little bundles of fun are $75 and are available at all three of our stores. So, if you were thinking about buying a last-minute box of crap from Harry & David, consider not doing that!

As I'm sure everyone is aware by now, the governor has put new restrictions in place on restaurants, bars, and other food retailers. When we had this level of l...ock-down earlier in the year, a lot of people turned to grocery stores, butcher shops, and food markets to fill their freezers and plan their weekly meals. We anticipate an increase in customer traffic this weekend and next, and we certainly do welcome your business. I do want to put some information out there so we can act like we've all been here before. First, please wear a mask in our stores. All of us are under increased scrutiny from wary citizens as well as the state that licenses our businesses. If you break the rules, we are liable for whatever action the department of agriculture and the state of Pennsylvania takes in response. Second, please plan for a longer shopping "experience." Customers ahead of you may be purchasing large amounts of product and we still intend to give everyone the personal attention they've come to expect of us. We feel a lot of anxiety and pressure when there are people waiting and we don't want to have people getting upset and causing extra tension. Additionally, dress for the weather. We have to restrict the number of people in our stores. If you have to wait outside, we don't want you to be uncomfortable. That said, this comes at a time when we are rather well-prepared to serve your needs. We have a lot of inventory on hand because of the preparations we are making for Christmas food shopping. Also, our relaunch of the Essentials Bags is almost tailor-made for a world with limited restaurant dining. At our Washington store, we have 40 bags that are comprised of the following items: 2 ribeye 4 chicken breast Breakfast Sausage Seasoned Spatchcock Chicken 16oz meat sauce 2 pack of bacon cheddar burgers Beef Pot Roast That's 7 dinner anchors for the coming week! On top of those bags, we have the normal assortment of steaks, chicken, eggs, and other items. We also have a limited supply of those bags available at our Marianna shop as well as last week's configuration which is the following: Sloppy Joes al Pastor sausage Porchetta Stuffed Chicken breasts (2) Stuffed Pork Chops 2 Strip Steaks Stuffed Chicken That configuration is also available in Waynesburg, in limited supply. We also have a large quantity of steaks (ribeye, strips, tbones, filets). We are receiving two Ross Farm pigs on Friday, so we'll have mountains of pork chops and roasts. We got a really beautiful Elysian Fields lamb on Wednesday and there are lamb chops and roasts available from that. Sausages are abundant, chuck roasts are innumerable, and of course we have a great charcuterie selection. Bob is heading to Aliquippa tomorrow to pick up Brunton Dairy Milk, so that will be in stock in Marianna and Waynesburg for the weekend. We'd also like to encourage you to buy gift cards, available at all 3 locations, for an easy and practical Christmas gift. But enough about us! Please support all the OTHER small businesses that work day and night to produce wonderful foods for your enjoyment. Buy gift cards for local restaurants that have been struggling over the past year. Order food for pickup and outside dining when the weather permits. If we aren't vigilant in who we support, we'll come out of this with nothing but Walmarts and gun stores and a sea of empty store fronts. We carry products from local producers like Brochachos Salsa, Maestros Hot Sauce, Makripodis Olive Oil, Bearded Devil Hot Sauce, Swope's Berries and Bees, and Pittsburgh Pot Pie Co (and if I forgot a few others, we have their stuff, too). Our hats and hoodies are made by Direct Results in Waynesburg, our equipment is repaired by local technicians and our towels and aprons are delivered by our friend Bob Bucher. Oh, and one other thing... Our Christmas hams are sold out. If we've had a dialog via email already, you're probably already good to go. If you are still looking for something delicious for the holidays, we are still taking orders for standing rib roasts and filet. Direct your inquiries to [email protected] Thank you and keep on keepin' on.
