Job Summary Shift: 8-9 hours, starting at 10:00 pm The Pasteurization Technician is responsible for processing fluid products through HTST processors as well as accurately batching products. All tasks are to be performed safely and efficiently per established standards, processes, procedures, formulas, and regulatory requirements. Ideal candidates are dependable and flexible. On-site training will be provided. Essential Job Functions: Ensure proper product rotation of raw dairy products and verify with lab personnel whether or not incoming ingredients meet quality standards prior to starting any pasteurization functions. Perform pasteurization of all fluid products. Perform batching and blending for all fluid products as required. Perform all daily pasteurizer operational duties including but not limited to: start-ups, washouts, product flushes, product changeovers, shutdowns, and CIP (clean-in-place) cycles. Perform daily inspections of HTST functions, including seal integrity and differential pressurization. Monitor temperature recorders and document process changes. Batch, monitor, and culture buttermilk tanks. Document all legal requirements for pasteurization process. Identify storage tanks for product mix in process. Communicate with batching and filling departments for efficient and timely processing of products. Ensure refrigeration and agitation is activated for product mix in process. Communicate to manager and/or supervisor all equipment malfunctions and notify the manager and/or supervisor of any unusual events. Understand general technical functions of HTST system and report faulty equipment to the maintenance department. Perform sanitation duties in batching/blending areas including but not limited to: CIP cycles and manual cleaning of equipment. Communicate status of HTST process to manager and/or supervisor and oncoming shift Pasteurizer Operator to ensure a smooth transition between shifts.
