This week our country celebrates Teacher Appreciation Week. At MBA we know that it truly takes a village to make the magic happen, and for that reason honor ALL staff members. We are fortunate to have over 150 staff members in our village. Working in a school is no easy feat and we feel so fortunate to have a staff who demonstrates kindness, passion, devotion, and puts students and families first each and every day. And while educators love the beautiful gifts and pomp and... circumstance that comes with this week, the thing they love the most is catching up with and finding out about all the amazing things their former students are doing. With 20 years of students who have walked our halls, we have A LOT of catching UP!! For that reason, we'll be posting lots of great stories on our IG and Facebook Stories all week long. Bracetti Families, Politicians in Harrisburg are once again discussing cutting funding for Philadelphia’s public charter schools. In his budget proposal, Gov. Wolf is calling for $99 million in cuts for charter school students in need of special education services. Philadelphia students would lose $53 million in special education funding each year based on this proposal. That is unfair and cruel.... Please take a minute to tell your state lawmakers to oppose the governor's funding cuts. Let them know what a public charter school education means to your children and your families. Bracetti Community As of April 19, 2021 ALL Pennsylvania residents 16 & above will be eligible to receive the COVID-19 vaccination. Bracetti Families The end of Q3 and Spring Break is fast approaching!! As a reminder, Quarter 3 ends March 26th and teachers and students have been hard at work over the last two weeks closing up loose ends to finish the quarter strong. We recommend checking your child’s grades on PowerSchool today and connecting with teachers if you have questions. There will be no school March 29- April 5th as we celebrate Spring Break. We will resume virtual instruction on April 6th at... 9AM and begin the 4th quarter. Lastly, a letter was mailed home this week regarding our plans for the remainder of the school year. When a class leaves for recess, their just-baked Gingerbread Man is left behind. But he's a smart cookie and heads out to find them. He'll run, slide, skip, and (after a mishap with a soccer ball) limp as fast as he can because: "I can catch them! I'm their Gingerbread Man!"

Bear’s friends are determined to keep Bear awake for Christmas! So they wake Bear up and have him help them find a Christmas tree, bake cakes, hang up stockings, and sing Christmas songs. Bear stays upby discovering that giving is one of the best Christmas presents of all!

Thanks to your partnership, we have been able to provide our students with a safe and high-quality education in the virtual setting. We continue to prioritize stu...dents, staff, and family safety, which guides all of our decisions. We are closely monitoring the data in Philadelphia and across the country, we will continue to be guided by the CDC and our state and local health department data. When we released our plans to families in early August, we committed to providing updates by early November. While we had hoped we would be able to transition into Phase 2 of our plan at the end of November, the current data calls for MBA to remain virtual until at least January 2021. If conditions at that time permit, we plan to phase students back into school by academy for those families who opted for the hybrid option on the School Registration form that was released in early October. For those families who have opted to remain virtual, we will continue to accommodate that in our learning model. These students will be able to participate in their classes from home. If you have not yet made a selection, or if you have additional questions, please contact [email protected] immediately. Please note, if no selection is made, the student will be registered for the hybrid option. Once we have finalized timing, details, and expectations for our hybrid model, including cohort information, that information will be shared so families can most appropriately plan. Each morning our students begin their day with our community announcements. In the building these were broadcast over the loud speakers, but since we've transitioned to virtual learning, these community announcements are played schoolwide at 9AM each morning. They feature upbeat music , student and staff voices, upcoming dates and events, our school pledge, and a monthly "The World Around Us" and special-feature series. So far this year we've celebrated National Hispanic Her...itage Month, Native American Heritage Month and MBA Rocks the Vote all on our morning announcements. Our Special-Feature series has provided a Distance Learning Tip of the Day, Bulldog Shoutous, and most recently, a Gotta Give Thanks highlight acknowledging the many things and people we are grateful for at MBA. Now that it's December 1st, we are making the switch to two new segments. The first, is our World Around Us--- Celebrate the Season Series. All month long we'll be featuring the unique traditions, celebrations and holidays that occur around the world during December and January. Students and teachers are encouraged to share their own traditions by completing the "Celebrate the Season" form. Looking to get involved? Get in touch w us here! Additionally, as we enter the final month of a year that has been unlike any before it we are inviting students and staff to participate a 31-Day Make the World Better challenge. Every day in December, we’ll be highlighting one thing WE can ALL do to improve our surroundings, our attitudes, and our inner circles. If this year has taught us anything, its that anger and hatred can be as contagious as any virus. But if those things are contagious, than surely kindness can be, too. The witch and her cat are happily flying through the sky on a broomstick when the wind picks up and blows away the witch's hat, then her bow, and then her wand! Luckily, three helpful animals find the missing items, and all they want in return is a ride on the broom. But is there room on the broom for so many friends? And when disaster strikes, will they be able to save the witch from a hungry dragon?

The first pumpkin Tim ever carved was fierce and funny, and he named it Jack. When Halloween was over and the pumpkin was beginning to rot, Tim set it out in the garden and throughout the weeks he watched it change.
