My mother sang painfully off key, she overcooked turkeys and cookies and muffins. She hated eating but loved to smoke. She was a writer with white out on the ti...ps of her fingers and a gardener with pieces of earth under her fingernails. Instead of praying, she talked to God through the faces of the zinnias and the petunias. She was a lover and a mother and sometimes a monster. I never understood her until I had a child of my own. I never understood her until I began to explore the woman she was before she was a mother - her origin story, which is part mythology and part truth. I never understood her until I began to simplify her joys and pass it onto my granddaughter. Poet Li-Young Lee wrote this poem about his mother and grandmother. My client decided to repair her diastasis recti surgically. She now has a large horizontal bikini scar and a vertical scar from pubis to umbilicus. A while afte...r the surgery her lower back started to hurt and eventually she got sciatica. It still bothers her. NKT prioritizes scars so we started there. The right side of the bikini scar was neurologically overactive and the abs underactive. Did some myofascial work on the scar then activated the abs. Then we found the right lower back muscles overworking and the abs underworking. Released the back and activated the abs.
